Email from one Kirsty Leanne Fox at DVLA today:

Please accept my sincere apologies regarding the delay of your V5C Registration Certificates following your cherished transfer application. I can now confirm that a V5C for both vehicles has been issued to you today, these should arrive within 3 to 5 working days. If you do not receive them, please contact our customer enquiries unit on 0300 790 6802.

It seems having a chat with the chap notionally in charge has made something happen. Obviously, there's the small matter of 3 to 5 working days in which it could all still go wrong... Or be exposed as more lies.

It will, because they are all t0ssers at the DVLA. Proof their selection process works as advertised.

The number PEN 1S was issued and was reputedly owned by Steve Parrish the Motorcycle/truck racer. When I asked him about it at a Silverstone track day last year, he said he bought it to stop his wife driving his car!

I am currently in a struggle to tax my car, it won't let me do it online..?? I have also just found out that my reminder has been sent to the chap who bought my Jag..?? Some sort of mix up when I changed my private plate from one to the other I assume, so now I'm a bit stuck for 10 days. I have emailed and faxed the DVLA, but don't hold out much hope in getting this sorted quickly, it's the DVLA..?? I still have my V5C which is all correct, but the DVLA computer system does not see it as being valid, how pathetic is this system..??

Begs the question why we need paper copies at all really....but given their ineptitude shown for managing computer systems, maybe it is still worth it!

Actual quote from an email this week:

Thank you for your email.

For us to be able to process your request, this would need to be sent to us in writing on headed paper with your merchant number along with a signature.

This can be sent to the email address .......

Sometimes I could weep for the stupidity of the human condition, I really could.

Letter today for Susie from DVLA:

Last chance to either tax or sorn her vehicle, before legal action is taken. "Even worse, we may impound and crush it!" - direct quote from the letter. How civil...
There's a phone number to call. 'Unfortunately, all our operators are busy, so we can't take your call right now. Goodbye.' I kid you not - not even put in a queue...

You may take from this that the V5Cs haven't arrived, nor has the database been updated, as the insurance companies were telling me this morning. It's a larrrffff, eh?

I finally phoned the DVLA and got a human eventually, or at least I think it was. They advised that they would have to instigate an investigation in to what has gone wrong and it could take a couple of weeks..?? So that I could tax my car, they suggested, "Contact the person you sold your other car to, ask them if you can order your tax disc, which will then go to him, then ask him if he will send it on to you, that way you can get your car taxed". For crying out loud, why not just change the incorrect owner details, which would take 2 minutes and sort the job out properly. No it has to be investigated before we can proceed, so this is the only way you can tax your car and be able to use it.....!!!!!!!! IS THIS THE UK...???

I bought a new number from DVLA about 5 weeks ago, sent off all the paperwork and since then ....nothing.
I go to the letterbox each day more in hope than anything else but from all the comments like this on here I don't have high expectations! :frusty5:
