Are you going to keep it in those colours then Frank, or change to something a little more exotic..??

I would probably keep it as bog standard as I could. But, there again, it's not my car!

I think it would be worthy of a leather interior if that's possible, but paintwork you are probably right Ian, keep it original..!!

I see your point re the leather, but, if it were mine, I would put the original cloth back in. If you were restoring a Mk1 or Mk2 Lotus Cortina, would you put in black vinyl or black leather? I love leather seats but I would put vinyl in. Perhaps that is just me.

They never came with leather........hate the colour.....will choose another Lancia colour of the period

...well.....there were a few colours which frankly, even though of the era...fail to inspire me plus look a tad naff on this model......so am erring towards a dark blue.......might even be metallic if they did one...

But you never know......Newton....could end up banana yellow........;)

So...approximately 97 hours of labour later this is what a B 12 looks like!

Ok, glass needs to come out, dismount front/rear axles....but simple enough.

In new year, will spend a few weeks removing paint, then to sand blaster end of January.

The dirty, oily gloves have been binned, will treat myself to a new pair in the sales.

Frank,
Starting to look pretty good and cleaning up nicely. Dark Blue would look nice with matching interior, or a contrast..??
Ian, I take your point on keeping original, but leather would be just that little bit more special..??
Cheers

The flash does seem to emphasize the "orange" aspect of the superficial rusty areas.......in reality far less obvious/bad

Not thought of having a chemical dip to remove the left over stuff?...will save some metal that may be blasted off if its sand-blasted?

As mentioned Peter.....in an attempt to be kind to older metal work and those areas not too rusty, will use a chemical stripper...then a nylon brush arrangement to finish.....only sand blast lower areas and a few smaller choosen areas...advice is to let the guy spent more time doing it at a lower pressure.....:)

Was thinking more of the bath type where they drop the whole car in and it removes everthing except metal.

Yes...am aware of that technique.......issues about neutralising same stuff after...not sure.....expose and then cut out........:)

When it's cleaned off, do a first coat of zinc based paint, it has a property which allows it to creep and cover any exposed part, giving excellent protection.

Amazing work P!. Well done.

I'd certainly consider an acid dip. It's a bit scary, but it's absolutely thorough and neutralising isn't an issue. It'll save you a LOT of labour time and will get to the bits that hands and fingers can't. Once primed you'll have a very sure foundation to build from.

Am using a chemical stripper by hand for sound body work, sand blasting the remainder.....10" and down! Body man for 4/6/12 months

Running a few weeks behind where I'd thought I'd be, but got a few things done sooner than planned

Thanks Miles!

What sort of money are you looking at for the blasting P? Is your body man doing the full bodywork resto'?
