Morning all. More of the same I think. Got so much piling up waiting for decisions, if they all said yes, I'd be able to take the rest of the year off!
Sadly work rarely works like that......

Morning all....Alex and Liz not well...Picked up this but that's going around. Glad I'm in work if I'm honest.
Lucky you are covering the Welsh offices this week Andy. I came across the accident on the M4 shortly after the crash at 6am... how you get a full size steam roller to jump over the central reservation is beyond me... it it had hit a vehicle it would have been game ovee for sure.

Wasn't today Pete...Left at 7 to go to Gloucester .....Old bridge shut....Cars just not moving on it...Went down to Magor to go over the new bridge and that was rammed also.....Went back through the lanes and went home to sit it out..Left again at 11 and my boss said just some up to Ebbw Vale for a few hours and the motorway East bound was still rammed and not moving back as far as Newport to the new Severn crossing......It was an artic that went through the reservation but had JCB steam roller stuff on the back from what I hear..Ah well late start and now an early finish.

Yes one roller stayed on the low loader on the English bound carriage way, the other roller was catapulted over onto the Welsh bound carriage way as he jacknifed... they were full size ones for not the dinky ones.

I suspect he caught out with a slow truck going up the hill to the M5 junction... if I had not been 10 mins late today I may have seen the action in progress.

Hello everyone!
DMan, I applaud you. Gotta be done though, I guess! I don't like hospitals but I'm visiting them most weeks.
Well, today will be interesting... 1:1 with my boss to deal with some very bad behaviour - and not by me. Uh-oh!

Weren't you in HK last month??? Get ye to the nunnery foul wretch!!!!

Yeah... HK, Malaysia and Singapore. It became clear only while I was there why there were so many body temperature sensors manned by masked operators all over the airport. A colleague there, who's wife works for a bank with a large office in Wuhan, was saying there's some big new virus and the Chinese have been covering it up and apparently it's some huge thing. Now our Asia offices are empty with people working at home, customers have embargoed external meetings and events across the region (especially in China) have been cancelled. Good thing I got out when I did, before anyone knew I was infectious.

Anyway, your nunnery plan is ace, Newton. I'm thinking like in Casanova. Excellent film, that, Inspirational.

Morning all still feeling crook.
Today's task is trying to work out why concrete is so expensive in France and I need 40 cubic metres for my new floor in the workshop.
Have a good one all.

Morning all, 40 cubic metres is a heck of a lot Phil that would be expensive anywhere. Got a net to build in Wandsworth today with Christine.

Have fun all...

Most concrete trucks are 6 cubic metres. So that’s 7.

Roughly here you’ll pay £500, you’re possibly in the sticks so add another £100 for distance and an additive, you’ll probably want to pump into so there’s another £100 for a flow additive, so £700 per truck x 7 is £4900 plus if pumping you’ll need a guy with a pump so that’s another grand.

It's a good job we didn't pay loads for the place.
The workshop would certainly cost more to build today in the construction it's built in.
I just want a good floor that I can safely put a two post lift on and work safely.
I'm going to get some builders opinions as well after reading up on the net.
Do it right do it once springs to mind.

Phil, if you know where the lift will be going, you can dig deeper 'pots' and even put rebar cages into them so you can fix over them meaning you can reduce the thickness in other areas. When I built my garage/workshop I engineered a floor with a ring beam and pad over so that it has a 10t spot loading capability, I also specified an engineering mix C30-C32 to keep the volume down.

If you’re getting a speclist in ask about power floating it. That’s such a big floor it’ll be the best way to get a nice finish.
