The death of F1

Well don't know if you have heard the news, Sky are talking over F1.

I have been struggling with it for about a decade and with it going to Sky that's it for me, no longer an F1 fan.

I am a sky customer but out of principle I don't pay for sports and movie.

Very sad day, Bernie you should be ashamed of yourself selling out the sport for money.

Like football, F1 is a business and people like the malignant troll will do anything to get more money, and selling the broadcasting rights to Sky swell his, and CVCs, coffers. Perhaps they too realise the majority of F1 races are tedious and boring and have decided to cash in while the going is good. Personally, I'm a bit p1ssed off that I am helping to pay for this cr4p with my monthly subscription as I don't generally watch, even when it's free.

We have no choice, If we want TV in our home & business we have to use Sky or similar due to the geography, terrestrial TV is not available.

I do have a real issue with Sky winning almost All our sports coverage but what can one do? Just to nail the coffin shut I have just heard that the BskyB board have voted in favour of Murdoch junior to head the Board of directors, WHTF is that about spineless **** should have knocked him in to the boundary! Anyway with some luck him and his **** of a father will be banged up for purgery in a few months.

Its not quite that simple, the BBC is trying to cut costs and therefore decided they could not afford to continue broadcasting every race (due to the cuts, license fee staying the same and wages increasing). They will be broadcasting every other race on the BBC, all of them on Radio 5. Sky has simply stepped in, ITV didn't even bother bidding. Sky is no worse than ESPN or any other specialist sports broadcaster around the world, we live in a capatalist democracy (thank god).

I also don't have Sky Sports or Movies, if I want to watch it, I'll go to the pub... I'll probably not bother watching it.

They wont get banged up peter.......i guarantee it
Skys coverage of football is good but its expensive....
They have got all the sport and its now a must for people to have sky even though some cant afford it, takes the ****....if you poor yiu and your family will miss out on nearky everything on TV and there will be less bonding with your children.....

I grew up watching football with my dad on bbc1 and match of the day, if i cant hae that package now they taking a little quality time away from me.....

Will the bbc licence fee go down now?? Hahahaha dont think so

Dem I know they won't get banged up but I don't think NI will ever recover fully here in the UK. It's unfortunately only 1% of their business so won't affect the balance sheet much and that is the only way to damage them.

I have no respect for that type of journalism (if you can call it that) but many in the UK just love to read about other people' lives. Sad **** Mrs Brick top's statement last night regarding the new phone hacking story made me laugh out loud! Now you know how it feels you cold hard *****. Not that she give's a **** anyway just trying to cover her ***.

Dem I feel strongly about people's right to conduct their lives how they wish and unless it has a detrimental affect on others or is really IN THE PUBLIC interest then why should anyone have the right to comment. I have a friend who had a very hedonistic and open marriage, he and his wife were very happy and had two wonderful children.

A tabloid paper implicated them in a certain celebrity’s life style and as a result their daughter was harassed and bullied at school. She took her own life three years ago leaving a letter with the words "I love you both and don't blame yourselves for this but I can't take the teasing anymore" As you can image their lives are over.

You could argue that they should not have lived that kind of life but why not they are consenting adults and should have been able to conduct their private lives how they liked.

Oh It also cost them £££££’s of pounds to keep the story out of the gutter press.

Well, there is a way. I am sure many of you are aware there are website out there that illegally show pay per view tv like Sky free over the internet. Now I have never advocated these sites, but I am sorely tempted so as to stick 2 fingers up at SKY.

I'm surprised in my self just how much this is p1ssing me off!

I've really been enjoying the BBC coverage, and with each season, they seem to be getting better. With the racing improvements going on at the same time, F1 viewing is as high as it's been in a decade, and then they go and sell half of it to Sky, thus closing it off to anyone without a ****** Sky box!

I know times are tough at the BBC, but I'm pretty certain F1 has been hawked off because it's easily saleable rather than it being a reasoned audience driven decision. How many radio stations to we need for instance?

Between paid subscription TV, Freeview content, the plethora of non-BBC channels, and the fact that there's pretty much nothing left in the silver cupboard to sell at the BBC, can someone justify the license fee to me please?

Oh and then in a few years Fiat / News Corp will buy F1 outright and all the cars will have to stop on the circuit for an add break!

That was a rant Miles.........

Every point very relevant and true.

I don't blame the BEEB.......but the little short man himself...Bernard.....or whomever decided to sell the rights to the highest bidder.

Way of the world the biggest payer gets the prize...why be surprised.

A simple boycott will suffice............don't go to F1 races..........will it happen......no

End of.

I think it will just be a case of on SkySports 1, 2 or 3 to be honest. They still have to compete with the Beeb so they cant go doing anything silly. I recon this is just a pre cursor to Sky getting the whole thing.

Why cant the short runt just sell Sky the right to broadcast the F1 then the consumer can decide if they watch in on Sky or BBC?
