Does ayone elses brakes feel terrible?
I've just got my car back after 2 months and compared to my Discovery the brakes are shyte!
I know ceramic brakes aren't like steel ones but mine feel bad enough to make me want to get them checked

Have your master cylinder checked we are seeing them fail.

Mine are epic but not the first press in the morning.

Will do Matt.
By fail what do you mean?

I thought a master cylinder would be working or not. If it was leaking surely I'd be loosing fluid?

Only if it's leaking out. If the seals have failed effectively the piston can move back and forth in the sealed unit, but without pushing any fluid....

Sit in the car with it running and put your foot moderately on the brake pedal and hold it; a failing master cylinder the pedal will slowly drop with no additional pressure needed, this is indicative of worn seals letting by. In this case there would be no external leak.

When I sit in it and press the brake pedal I can almost touch the floor with the pedal.

Excessive pedal travel and thus working below required pressure.

This is what happened to my car.

The pistons in the callipers also don’t have external seals and so can seize I understand. Hill Engineering do a stainless steel piston set for this eventuality.

Ordered a new master cylinder and servo, on back order until July!
Why are they so **** at looking after their customers?

The Bosch part number is Y24113. If you have a Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relay or Fiat Ducato in your street steal theirs while they are sleeping...

Or have someone replace the seals, not too tricky.

sorry to hear that FF. mine are epic too - piling in to corner when you think you have over-cooked things, and they grab amazingly and save the day (until now!)

One thing to add: don't think 'coz they are ceramic that you don't have to press hard. I fairly well stand on mine, in a ooops situation, and they seem to work. Anyone else concur?

Yes, you have to push hard, but the pedal shouldn’t sink to the floor.
