While being an analogue fan, streaming is so nice and easy.
And better sounding meanwhile to be honest.
Tidal/Roon over a Project Stream Box S2 and Topping D90SE DAC, very good.
Especially that Topping: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-d90se-review-balanced-dac.24235/
This. Half my office is vinyl, I love the format, and I've purchased some expensive (for me) Dynaudios speakers to enjoy it all with.
I bought some new records two months ago, they're still in the plastic bag :drunk:

Was tempted by Catman's amp but I know it'll get little use and my ancient NAD (arf arf) is up to the job...

The ever moving forward amplifier trial continues

Picked up a Roksan K3 for the right money and its local enough to collect so I'll be on the road tomorrow afternoon , I really liked the Caspian system and the reviews for the K3 are all 5☆ so I'm expecting big things tomorrow

Enjoy!

Got my eye on some replacement speakers for the Cinema on ebay. Not entirely clear what's in the sale but something like £10k of speakers for (currently) £111......

That's the problem with ebay , £111 turns into £4k in the last 15 seconds , I just use esnipe , put my max bid in then forget about it

I rarely bid on items on ebay , just set up alerts for newly listed items and either contact them and ask for a buy it now price or search bin listing

Facebook, shpock , next-door and a few other apps have classified pages , hifi forums can also be good sources , especially if you can collect

Bought two Michi M8 lately.
They only do the low frequencies up to 400hz, via an electronic cross over equivalent of the 801D4 low pass, that is bridged now.
Mcintosh for the mid/high over the internal passive cross over.
Very impressive; good live performances, FEEL very live now too!

Lovely audio set up.
I’m guessing you blew the budget and could only afford the black and white tv.

Same seller , could be a problem with the buyer , I've had a few the bid on things then are surprised when they find out I don't ship to Turkmenistan.

Slight move to something different... earphones.
I've been after something that sounds good but that I can use for exercise and when out and about. Over-ear wired reference cans don't exactly work in those circumstances! Ended up buying a combination of Shure Aonic 4's with the 2nd gen wireless adapters for them.
So dual-driver in-ears from Shure are going to be good - and they are! Not only that, I've finally found an earbud that stays in my ears because there's an attachment a bit like those roll-and-compress earplugs. Passive noise-surpression, but it's properly effective! I've been using a lot of garden power tools today and could have the volume pleasantly low. No need for noise-cancelling!
I think what makes them come into their own is when you use the wireless bluetooth adapters. I personally like that they're hooked over the ear rather than trying to hold themselves in your earhole. Sound quality is great streaming hifi/master from Tidal now that I have a phone that supports the hd audio codecs. There's this super-cool feature on the blootoths, though, where I tap the button on either side twice and the microphones transfer the ambient sound in. It's not obtrusive with the music (well, unless you're using power tools) but I can hear anyone talking to me at normal volumes without taking them out. Double-tap again and the outside world noise disappears.
Bonus is that I now have some decent in-ear monitors of my own for when I next get to use such a thing on stage.

Nice. I used to use EAR phones when I was travelling a lot. Same passive noise reduction, but not wireless.

Currently using Cyrus (there's a theme here) Soundbuds 2 which are way better than the V1 and stay in my ears (same issue, although I've not run for a while)

Biggest issue for me is the phone calls are not great and control for volume is a tad slow.....

I was at an auction looking at all the **** when I spoke to a guy I knew , did you see the amp , what amp , it was so basic looking I'd barely glanced at it amongst the 100s of items

Turned out to be an italian £2000 hybrid valve amp, in the home & garden sale where people only start bidding when he goes down to £5 :D
Screenshot_20220414-075914_Samsung Internet.jpg

It was in the first 100 lots so I thought I'll go along to see what it makes

He had commission bids so started at £150 , I was waiting for the internet to start but nothing , so I put my hand up , your bid sir

He's hovering because he knows it's worth way more than £150

Somebody online bids £160 so I go £170 thinking here we go , but no , I can see in his eyes , come on FFS

BANG £170, £225 with the buyers premium

Got it home , powered it up and all looked good , blinking lights then steady indicating the valves were ready to go , only barely any volume , at 10 it sounds like it's on 1 ( this one doesn't got to 11)

So I wonder if it's the valves , no it's not the valves :D
