Personally I would replace the Streamer with a top end CD and turntable

Turntable I can kind of get. Can't see why people rate CD players these days. Bits are bits...... and the convenience of being able to access all of my music is a huge driver.

Surely the problem with streaming is getting the bits in the best quality, not all streaming services are the same

Oh! Totally! I stream locally. I 'digitised' everything I owned and now download a high bit rate to store locally. (Although all bits are the same quality, the digitisation of streaming is what you're referring to and I totally get it. I've not actually tried any streaming services because, well, I have mostly everything I want right now....)

Bought two Michi M8 lately.
They only do the low frequencies up to 400hz, via an electronic cross over equivalent of the 801D4 low pass, that is bridged now.
Mcintosh for the mid/high over the internal passive cross over.
Very impressive; good live performances, FEEL very live now too!

I just read that and I have NO idea what any of it means (not all the pages, obvs)

It means that this recent Topping, produces the best test results ever measured till now and sets the upper standard.
Sounds great too, more important of course.
And its a bargain.
You will have to invest >3K to maybe(!) get better results/sound.

Mrs Z is luke, at best, warm to HiFi, I get that "if you must" look whenever I suggest a new purchase / upgrade however after having seen the Naim system I posted a few days ago she has been off researching the HiFi stand it was on and has suggested she would like to replace the current unit with a Naim Fraim system as she thinks it's stylish and takes up less space than the current unit - shock horror a request to spend on HiFi best strike whilst the iron's hot

NB a pretty frock is only part of the package. It serves only to enhance the allure of the wearer, so perhaps the contents need tweaking a smidge too? ;)
