This looks like a major install, not something I'm prepared to do myself. I'm also in West Yorkshire so it's a bit too far from Herefordshire for fitting, looks like I'll have to pull out :(

I would speak to Paul at Prestige first as I am sure he has advised an installer up that way on a previous install.....

Paul at Prestige, whom Ive had many converstions with, will travel for a fee. Local in Hertfordshire is free, sensible fee for further. What you could do is ask him when he is your way to do it or give it to a local installer to do.

Current state of affairs...its only for the brave!

I am taking my time and working it all out and writing a guide. I will research using the factory mic.

I have now worked out where the boxes go, ontop of the glove box. I've done this as to remove the glove box is simple. If it was at the base of the behind the facia ontop of the tunnel, it would mean taking it all out again if you need to do anything.

Dont be perturbed by the birds nest of wires, only a third of them are used and will be also putting in a list of the ones that can be removed.

Its basically:
Can Hi and Low wire tap
ACC 12v (ignition on feed)
BAT 12v (permanent feed)
Camera power
Audio out

The rest can be culled!

Also, I will try the Blutooth but I am putting the phone cable up the top vent so I can plug it in on the windscreen mount discreetly.

As you will be using the maps most of the time, the phone needs to be in an area where it will get the best signal, in the glove box will compromise this.

Finished - You can see the insulating tape at the top but when the brow trim goes on it fully covers it. Looks factory and its undetectable:

Todays update. I spent an hour last night mounting the units on top of the glove box and running and sorting/tidying all the wires ready for wiring in tomorrow. I also ran the mic up the drivers A pillar and pulled the camera line up from the back and routed it round to the unit.

It was scary at first but once you work it all out its actually quite simple. The biggest issue is the totally useless instruction which is something I will be supplying in detail...down to which wires to tap into.

Fair play Matt, some undertaking that. We will all benefit from it down the line though.

The early 08 granturismos don't have a usb port does this mean this is a non starter in these cars or is it relatively easy to install a usb port while you've got the dash in pieces?

Mike at Formby Car Electrics in Merseyside also have experience fitting this unit for those up North..

He also thought the instructions were pants. He even had to do a couple of late night whats app video calls with Naviplus in Ozz to clarify.

Anyone know of anywhere/anyone in the Midlands region that could do the installation (nr. Derby)?

Unless someone knows better it would appear to make sense to pay the chap at Prestige a bit of petrol money to tootle up the M1. Apart from having experience of the install his asking price to install for £200 is a bargain.

I would concur! It will be right first time and done! Plus he is a nice fella - I support him cos he was the only fitter that would give it a go having seen the appalling instructions from Naviplus!

As you suggest, I think I may well end up using Prestige tbh. It partly depends on how long it will take, e.g. will he be able to do it in a day (I'm guessing so based on charging £200), and how much to travel to Derby to do the job!

Not sure how long it takes but if he can do 2 in a day a trip to midlands would be worth his while.
