I'm blushing! Thanks for the votes of confidence.

As regards my scale of charges, I do my best to cut out things that don't matter - so there's no blonde receptionist, or even any receptionist at all.

Or reception.

No coffee machine, no sofa, no gleaming showroom, no employees, no management, no admin, no support staff, no salesmen.

I stopped paid advertising two years ago to stop myself getting overwhelmed.

I own my workshop, so I'm not paying out rent.

What I don't skimp on are things that really matter - so I use factory parts, fluids, and equipment.

I've got about £50K of diagnostic gear including a full SD2 kit, full Examiner Smart kit - the SAM accessories of which works very well on Maseratis - and even the obscure stuff like a Marelli multitest and Marelli Pro-1 tester for the six cylinder Maseratis.

I'm sitting here staring at 10 boxes of special tools, manuals, and software - cost new about £10K-£15K - that I've got as a job lot from a Fiat/Alfa dealer that shut down. I'll need about 10% of it, and the rest will never get used, but, I like to have it available.

I mostly have fixed prices for common jobs - all published on my website - but, for those that aren't listed, then my hourly rate is lower than any quoted in this thread.

If you want confirmation of work carried out from any garage - not just me - then ask for pics to be taken, and ask to see/take away the parts afterwards. I'm always happy to do both and always talk through what I've done to your car. In fact, it's often difficult to stop me doing so!

Mike.

Mike, I think you've set out your stall very nicely in your resume.....just you....the equipment and the car.

As your name gets mentioned more and more often, in a very positive way on this and other forums then it means you won't go short of work or indeed compliments.

Long may it continue and we hope you don't think of collecting your pension until you are at least 75!

Regards,

P

I have not used him myself but he came highly recommended from previous owner of my car - which is sadly not quite as straight as it should be after the first wet weekend (oops!) A phone call to RAA and its on its way to being sorted, very helpful bloke

I was down at Mikes the other day and he had a 3200 in there that had been vandalised, kicked in the door, wing and rear quarter, real heavy. Anyway, I did not see the car, but by brother did, and told me about it.

So anyway, I was down there and I saw the car, absolute perfect repair job. It turns out he got one of those dent master type mobile people round after his bodyshop advised him to do it, he only went and pulled out panel that I would have considered scrap, and kneeling down, looking along the flank, there was no sign of the repair. Cost 1.5 days labour total £250!...and no paint!

So worth getting in touch if you have an, hum, oops!

I was dumbfounded with the result and price, and the fact he came to you and did it.

Its a bit more than just a dent, pulled out to overtake on wet dual carriageway, crossed recently painted white lines, back end stepped out, fishtailed twice, got it back straight, clipped kerb, onto central reservation, clipped tree at right angles to road - rest is history.
What a C**K! only had car a week!

Mike at Roberts Aerospace has recommended K and K in Portsmouth - the car is in Basingstoke at the moment anywhere in the SE corner of UK will be ok for me, I am based just of Junction 6 on M25.

Engine and mechanicals seemed undamaged - no oil or water loss, AC condensor trashed, front subframe rather bent to - all in all a very costly trip.
