QP Spare wheel - solved

After a fair amount of searching, I think I've found an almost perfect cheap (£50) solution: Mitsubishi GTO alloy space-saver.

Has exactly the right PCD and equally important, exactly the same bore.

It arrived this morning, and in 15 minutes I'd proved to myself that it works just fine. Arrived dirty though...



Easily clears the calipers on the front - the rears are nowhere near the wheel.



Standard bolts are too long.









It won't quite sit flat in the boot when fully inflated, but I'm certain that when deflated it won't be a problem, and the boot floor will go back over it.

So, I just need to sort out some appropriate bolts (about 30mm shorter), a cover to keep the boot clean and a suitable lightweight jack. Then we are in business

It won't - the PCD is different, sorry... QP is 114, 4200 is 108 (I think).

PCD 5x108, CB 67.1, ET55.

Ford Escape (ET50) and Volvo XC90 (ET48) are really worth trying. Doubt the Escape has an alloy space-saver spare though.

I couldn't find anything on there regarding wheels, just a banged up old 3200. I don't know if I would dare put a Volvo spacesaver on my Maser..??

Well done Drew! I really do not like driving with only a can of foam in the boot. My 4200 had a spare wheel and I'm delighted that there's one for the QP. Especially as I'm taking the family over to France twice this year in the car.

I'm going to bid on the eBay one. Please update the thread when you find the correct bolts.

Don't forget the proposed XC90 space saver has a bolt pattern for the 32/42/GS...the QP is different!
