A few of you will find this interesting.
I knew Del well when I was living in Weston super Mare.
He's now in a Care home in Hereford.
He was a very clever Engineer loving Cars, Rallying and Women :)View attachment 115780
A name that popped up numerous times in my Triumph owning days Phil with his saloons and estates powered by V8 Stag engines.
Sad to hear.

Several British cars at the top of Stelvio (they'd headed north to south) including this

And some typical Maserati parking (to be fair there was a big jeep type thing right on its parking line and we needed all doors open for a driver swop) (MrRR is doing a load of filming, etc, hence all the stuff on poor Roary- but he does sound quite nice, even with me behind the wheel)

Got some different perspectives of Stelvio and Umbrail today:

- MrRR behind the wheel on this Stelvio descent (there's now a dent in Roary's passenger footwell)
Fortunately there was no oncoming traffic (like yesterday) on this Umbrail ascent

And thanks to @skiman who told us about the road to Sulden (skiers may be aware) we also enjoyed this

Certainly sad end for a Great Guy who now dosent really know if he's here or not.
He had some amazing stories to tell from his time in the Motor Trade and taking on British Leyland with his conversions all done in his workshop in WsM owned a Maserati too.

The Forcola di Livigno presented a surprise after it's gentleness on leaving Livigno

Ditto the Albula (which we must keep a secret as it was really interesting and little mentioned). It started like this (but a bit steeper than it looks)
Pretty start to Alabula pass.jpgand ended like this

With a bit of blue sky the view back down towards our start at La Punt Chamues would have been stunning.

When I was a member of the various Triumph forums 15 or so years ago there was one that mainly concentrated on 2000/2.5 models and he was a god to them. Him and another chap from that area who still sells parts today called Chris Witor.
Sadly Phil we're reaching that age where our heroes from the 1970s are reaching that age.

Here we go again - Splugen wasn't really on the itinerary but -
splugen ascent looking backwards.jpg
splugen bends.jpg

and it had it's tight spots, although everyone was very curteous

and then there was the San Bernardino
Bernardino bends.jpg

- should have gone to spec savers and used the motorway?Bernardino - could have used motorway.jpg

The Lukmanier was less challenging (still very pretty) but a shame about the concrete road surface

And cows who closed the road (albeit for a short time - give them credit, they took the bend well)cows close road2.jpg
