Not wishing to teach grandmothers to suck eggs etc, but keeping at that kind of calorie intake will force your body into a mode where you'll break down muscle instead of shedding fat unless you do some pretty vigorous exercise as well.

Thanks C, I know it's not good to go long term, I just need to shrink my stomach for a few days to get it used to smaller amounts, then I can ease it back to sensible amounts, I'm active enough that even at 1,500 a day I'd loose weight. My problem has been typically something like 3,000 + a day for way too long, promising myself I'd be good the next day (yeah right)! This time I have a good reason as it's my daughter's wedding in May...

Newton,
The one time I decided to try and lose weight which was after being laid up ill for a while, I decided to eat good food but small amounts on a regular basis, rather than wait until normal meal times and have a big meal. By doing this and eating a bit only when I felt hungry, my stomach got used to smaller amounts and reduced in size and I lost weight. By good food I don't mean sweets and puddings, just such as meat, eggs, veg etc. You might need two sandwiches in an hour, then nothing for 2 hours, your body will tell you when it needs food, rather you telling it "your having it". Best of luck with your efforts, it's easier to put on than take off..!!
Cheers

When i was training id eat 6 times a day

Small amounts of protein and carbs throughout the day and in the evening cut out carbs and just protein... Every 3 hrs id eat something little like some tuna with a jacket potato

Cheers guys, I feel I have to shout about it or it would be too easy for me to slip off and back into bad ways....

So what are yours?

This thread should be revisited on next years New Year's eve to see how we all got on with them, that'll be amusing.

Mine:
1. Get into and stick to a routine for getting up and going to the office for 7:30am rather than wandering in after 9am.
2. Leave the office before 7pm
3. Reduce drinking to twice a month from daily
4. Waste less time on the internet during the day
5. Go away for Christmas next year!
6. Do bedtime story with Amélie at least 3x a week.

Mine:

1. Get into and stick to a routine for getting up and going to the office after 9am rather than wandering in at 7:30am.
2. Leave the office before 7pm (same)
3. Increase drinking from twice a month to daily
4. Waste more time on the internet during the day
5. Stay in the UK for Christmas next year!
6. Attend more Maserati meets :)

I'm with Newton. Never been a slim lad, but have put on a lot of weight since mobing to the burbs and letting the cycle get rusty - belive it or not, I used to cycle upto 27 miles a day and ran the marathon in 2006.

Need to gte to a sensible weight - 15 stone would do me - and get in the swing of getting regular exercise. I'm not 100% but think I'm currently 20 stone. Fook.

Anyone in the local area that needs a gym bunny for motivation, I'll happily help. I can take people running, or can teach some other forms of exercise that people may find more interesting. Or not.

Nice offer C, I personally cannot stand indoor gyms but perversely I've spent the last 5 years developing the world leading range of outdoor gym equipment www.tgogc.com I already spend a lot of time on it I just need to make more of that time exercise :)

That's impressive stuff, Newton. No wonder you're nonplussed by indoor gyms after investing so much time designing outdoor equipment.

Echoing Maser Sod's resolution to attend more Maser meets - ditto!

I've been their consultant from the outset and it's been an interesting few years but a heck of a ride! Looking to go global over the next two years if anyone has contacts? TGO have a setup in Australia and New Zealand, a big foothold and imminent launch in Japan with 38 sites (that'll keep me busy late spring) starting with adidas Southern Hemisphere HQ. Biggest problem is cheap gimmiky stuff from China and politics from people with vested interest in claiming the Chinese stuff is safe!

Nice stuff, Newton!

Personally I am not a fan of gyms at all. I just tend to run. There are a couple of other things I'm qualified to teach as well.

LOL. I am many things, but still a bloke. At weekends, I sometimes wear floppy ears and a tail, particularly if it helps others be motivated to get some exercise ;)

As for the other stuff, no I'm not pulling your leg. (Although I have been know to pull legs and arms). I've been training in Wing Chun Kung Fu for 23 years now. While I don't have my own school, I teach at my master's and have taught privately to interested parties as well.

My car related new year resolution is to buy a Maserati Shamal in good nick and at a great price. More like a wish than a resolution ;)

1: Do some more renovating on the house.
2: Have some vacation. A total of four weeks vacation in 14 years is simply not enough...
3: Try to travel some more.
4: Lay off the snuff, drink less beer.
5: Get in better shape
6: Continued development of the car project.
