I'm fortunate enough to have been in both the 959 and the F40 around Silverstone (as a passenger sadly...) and have done a good many road miles in the 959 too.

The 959 at low speed was always very clunky and all knuckles and CV joints but once on the move just came to life, on the track or when the second phase turbos kicked in God it was hellfire alive spitting fire on gear changes from both pipes and the dump valve underneath... The F40 was and remains an astonishing car and brutal but was typical of Ferrari build quality of that time (cr@p)!

I am not a fan of porkers and I so want to prefer the F40 but the 959 was just so ahead of it's time it has the edge in my books.... That said seeing them both tonight they both looked so dated and the roll, dive and lift was shocking compaired to even our road cars of the last decade...

And the 959 had 444 bhp according to Hammond, which is what Nicks spyder has, without twin turbos!

Even my spyder would have beaten them both round the test track tonight, and in the rain. Come to think of it a G Whizz would have too! 80s turbo reliability alive and well

Not my fav one last night....Even I was a bit bored.....The space thingy was a waste of time and the jag and od bit didn't do anything for me........

Loved the F40....It is just my fav Supercar of all time...959...Never liked it when it came out and still not a fan...Just looks odd.

Time for a change at top gear can't believe they have kept it going so long in this format, even brought back the cool wall last night, are we 9 year olds!

got to agree with the above sentiments, apart from one episode, the series has been rubbish. They appear to be struggling to fill the hour, and do one of these rediculous challenges, that dont interest me one bit.

The would be better dropping the current format and going with:

Welcome
car test
news
other article
star in reasonably priced car
cool wall
summary

They listened to me, top gear read this forum!

They should get rid of Clarkson, keep May and Hammond and find someone else.... This series was the worst ever.... That pillock ex politician was ****, the space drive was **** and the jaguar race was ****, only bit anyh good was watching my fav car (F40) driven by Hammond.

I ended up turning over half way through....
