Just done my first real short trip in a 2012 Grancabrio sport, Bristol to Cirenceter. About 55 miles of motorway and 45 of good A roads. Had the top down so kept to 75 on motorway as the Mrs didn't want her hair too meesed up, a small bit of 50 average restriction on the route and a steady drive on A roads. Overall 25.7 mpg on return so very very pleased. Currently averaging 17 - 19 around town on short journeys.

25 sounds OK.......read somewhere that you would struggle to get over 20....

I'm pleasantly surprised by how mine is shaping up - average around 19 for local tootling about, mid 20s on a steady run when Mrs. N's in the co-pilot seat. When she isn't the fuel consumption for some reason is much lower... Interesting to see how much she drinks when we go to the Ardeche next month (the car, not Mrs. N).

Well, it shows, it can be done, but the problem is, its too easy to press the loud pedal and get carried away.

I have been driving V6's and V8's for over a decade now and the GTS is by far and a way the thirstiest of them all.

It cost what, £110 to fill up, and I get maybe 250 miles normal driving. I don't know what that equated to, I am sure one of our mathematics will work this out, but the MPG thingymebob usually hangs around the 13-16mpg mark, how accurate that is, I don't know.

I went on a trip yesterday ~200 miles round, some of it country roads although most of it motorway, and ended up average 24mpg which wasn't bad at all, max achieved on the motorway was 28.5.

I am usually sitting around 16-17 when daily commuting.

GTS 4.7

A while ago I thought I'd just see what I can get max - driving for an hour or so on motorway on cruise control and with AC off I got 32.4mpg !!
I was very surprised to say the least.
As a daily driver I'm now averaging about 23 to 26mpg

Whats the going rate for a 4200? Does about 13 around town but not sure about long drives. Trip comp never shows more than 15mpg.

Brendan, does that mean it sticks at 15mpg, or that you ony get 15, I would have thought you should get around 20 at least on a run at steady speeds?

Only filled up twice. First time half motorway and town, forgot to records miles. Second time worked it out at 13 mpg around town, ok with this as previous 996 only did 15 mpg for the same. Yesterday when I went on a longer drive couldn't get 'trip comp' above 15 though

Surely that must be a dodgy trip comp', or you have a lead right foot and max revs everywhere???

Brendan, what you have to do is reset the trip, you do this by pressing the button to the right of the steering wheel then press and hold the release and press again to reset it. This way, it will give you an average from that point.

I once got a little tied up in my 3200 in the one way system around Hackney and The Angel, and ended up crawling along completely lost around Soho (well, that's my story Your Honour and I'm sticking to it).

Did some maths and worked out I'd got just over 9mpg on that tank of petrol that day. I gave up worrying about mpg after that.

Mine has averaged about 16 mpg in 18 months of ownership, improves slightly on a run if the sport setting is off........

At the Supercar event at Dunsfold I did 75 very gentle miles (averaging about 25) and 85 miles hard miles around the TG test track. In 160 miles I used 19 gallons. 8.42 mpg overall and approx 5.3 on track. I dont really want to do any less!
