Definitely up for it here, prefer not to do 700+ miles in a single day though! /wimp mode off

Tend to agree - plus not *that* much to see in Monaco for 2 nights, just the Saturday will do it. We'll find somewhere in mid-France for the way home.

All very tentative at the moment obviously, but nice to get a few names and keep it in our heads. Peter has suggested March 17th, I'll see what days are loosely around there and get some weather stats for the areas we'll pass through. Grenoble will still be full of charters flights and skiers! No point driving 1500 miles in probable rain, not sure when the S of France gets nice...

A tentertive yes from me.

March is way to early for any mountain passes and easter would be out of the question work wise, May on the otherhand would be easy.

Not looking for mountain passes - just that the northern end of the Route Napoleon is in Grenoble, which is open all year anyway. If that climbs into the mountains, then yes I will have to rethink it! My understanding is that it drops down towards the southern coast? Peter (Safrane) can you advise?

May is a bit late as then doing Le Mans in June and Classic LM in July! March could be too early, o maybe April but I'm keen to make this a spring blast, the first big run of the year, there's tons of stuff to do in the summer!

Blimey these threads move at a pace....

I'm happy to put my name down as a tentative at this stage as I've got some major refinancing of my life to do before Christmas which if successful would make this viable for me!

If it’s practical on the way back can I make a suggestion of the gorges around the Milau Bridge, stunning medieval villages and a few group runs over that magnificent bridge would tip the balance for me then up to Burgundy o’night in a chateau!

I only work part time Frank ;) Retired from the game I was in at 34!

I work about 100 days a year I think. It's a nice life.

Newton, the Millau Gorge route is exactly the kind of thing I wanted to hear, great idea!

Dem, no problems with April but May Bank holiday will see the roads busy, prices doubled and family types with other commitments. I'd like this to co-incide with just about nothing! We've all got tons of time to refine a date and change stuff round at work, we also seem to have a workable route now!
