What a sensational looking car! Just been on the maserati.co.uk configuration pages.....jesus, I could spend all day playing about with that! I dont think I would be able to decide if I came to coughing up for one though.

I've not read all the pages, is there a price?

Lovely looking car. I saw something similar last year in the display area of the factory at Modena, and it had slicks on - could have been a mule, or even an actual GT4 car, not sure ...

Every 12 months or so Maserati do something 'new' with the same old QP platform, so I don't think we should be so surprised to see this car. The thing is, what do they do next? Biding your time before the next 'Big Decision' is one thing, but given that they have already launched a convertible GranTurismo and a 'hardcore' GranTurismo, what is there left to do with the platform?

My suspicion is that FIAT management have not freed up any R&D money for Maserati over the last year or so, but have told them nevertheless to extend the appeal of the brand and (of course) make some money.

Very well said! The platform has reached its end of the line. The new QP will be shorter and smaller (similar to a BMW 5 series) and the new GT is likely to be along those lines.

In terms of the R&D you are very right. For the Stradale, the head engineer wanted to put on it a carbon fibre bonnet, just like the one on the Trofeo car, but there was no money to make it apparently.

How come they didn't just use the bonnet from the trofeo?

I guess that under the paint on a trofeo car the weave of the carbon fibre probably goes in any old direction rather than looking all neat a pretty as a customer car would but that would be paid for by the customer surely?

Different size? Gutted if they are, I'd love put one on my car.

I dont know the ins and outs but I reckon it's the extra cost of production plus coats associated to the homologation of a new part.

The Stradale is expensive, particularly compared to seind hand F430s, roughly the cost of a second hand Scuderia.

The fact that the car just couldn't be made more powerful/faster than the California really is a shame.

I was thinking of getting one but I just can't make it work. Too expensive for the performance it produces.

Guess where I went yesterday?

Couldn't justify to myself the time off mid-week but had a result as one of my teams was exhibiting at an Earles Court expo, which is 5 mins walk from the HR Owen showroom.....so I went down to show my "support" (tee hee).

Like others have said, the car looks stunning - the lowered stance and bigger wheels are spot on - makes the car look SO much more sporty. It's gorgeous and agressive in equal measure.

Had a sit in it. Interior is fabulous with the optional carbon fibre additions. Only negative - those that know me will know I am a little portly with flanks like an oxen... the seats are suitably "snug" across the back and thighs..basically, if you bigger or fatter than me, it'll be short journeys only! To be honest, I fit better in my westie. They will have the first stock in February apparently, and will take a test drive.... for this car to make sense it'll need to be significantly quicker than a tweaked GS.... here's hoping!

I second that. My next car will be a lot quicker than the Stradale but half the price. It hurts me to say that it won't be a Maserati. :(

What I never noticed on the car was the style of wheels...Thought they were simple double spoke but it wasn't until I looked at the invite that I see they still have a suttle trident at the end...Nice touch.
