Not yet. I am due to go see it in early october at a clients' event but it's in Tuscany so not sure I will go. I am told it's got racing seats, roll cage, etc.

Dem you could get a used GT3 RS and a Gransport for that money...Think thats would the way to go. Still glad Maserati has made and would love to see and hear it going around a track.

Got sent the following e-mail by DL today:

"The new Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

Dear Dr Quinn,
Due to star at the Paris Motor Show 2010 next month, **** Lovett Maserati is pleased to announce the first details of the latest incarnation of the GranTurismo which is inspired by Maserati's GT4 and Trofeo GranTurismo MC race cars.
The two-seater GranTurismo MC Stradale will feature "razor-sharp" handling and it will appeal to drivers looking for a car that balances on-road motoring needs with a race-style driving experience.
The new car will be more agile (thanks in part to being 100kg lighter) without sacrificing the GranTurismo S's "highly praised ride quality". The Stradale has a top speed in excess of 186mph, a 0-60mph time of 4.6 seconds and produces 450hp.
Other standard equipment includes Carbon Ceramic Brakes, MC Sport Line Suspension and MC Race Shift (60ms changes in RACE mode). You will also have the option of fitting a roll cage.
**** Lovett Maserati have begun taking orders of this exceptional new car which enters production in December 2010. This is a limited production run car.
To place your order and be one of the first in the UK to take delivery, please contact a member of our Sales Team on 01793 615 000 or alternatively contact me via e-mail at xxx@dicklovett.co.uk.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,

xxx
Sales Manager"

If they'd done this to the 4200 then I'd be sprinting to the dealership. But, given the expensive tweaks such as carbon ceramic brakes and of course the 'exclusivity' premium, I expect the price tag of this beast to be well into 6 figures. And that's Porsche Turbo + F430 territory - 'proper' sports cars.

I think Maserati need to stick to their core GT/Sedan market. If they want to get back to sports coupes, they should build a proper 4200 replacement. They could do worse than take the Alfa Romeo 8C as a template (it's mostly their car anyway).

Completely pointless, sadly

But isn't that the point of car like these............No need for them but the world would be a worse place without them....No one needs this car and no one needs a Supercar but life would be boring wothout them...

Andy, you'll see this in Paris won't you? I'll be interested to hear your thoughts once you've got the full SP and seen it in the flesh.

Price should be about 150k euros. The performance stats published are probably soft compared to what the car can actually do. Still, it's a strictly 2 seater, so will compete with Ferraris and the like, and won't win the game there I am afraid.

Not sure it's aimed at the Ferraris Bigfoot, as that would be self-defeating, but certainly the German torque-monsters, and there too it will come off worse, so you're right, but I'm intrigued nonetheless. It's so obviously the poor relation when it comes to performance figures, why have they gone to the effort? It'll be interesting to hear the marketing spin.

Power and 0-100 times aren't everything, just look at the Challenge Stradale vs F430 second hand prices.

Really want this to be a giant killer car but seems from what I've read so far it could be a missed opportunity......We shall see...

My point was not that one off supercars are pointless, absolutely not my view. My point was that if you are making a track tool/sharp edged sports car you wouldn't start with a large heavy four seater GT, as the case here.
