http://media.drive.com.au/cars/car-news/maserati-alfieri-concept-video-5232375.html

just got this through. it may be already on here.

I posted a while back after my trip to Italy where I stayed with friends who work in tech at god central and made the point about the skunk works lock down room at the back housing a stretched 4c tub with a V6 and a maser front. Well I hope they put that into production first cos this looks unfinished unless they come clean and admit it has the QP V8 twin turbo with a decent twin clutch box but the concept pics suggest the 8 speed ZF.

I think the grill would be far less offensive/aggressive if the whole thing was in dark grey or black.

Exciting times though

Actually, just seen a better picture of the front and decided it looks a bit like a new shaped BMW Z4 only more aggressive. It's bound to attract the boy racers trying to burn you off at the lights - in their 911's and Aston's...

Prices start at mid £60k's so make that £80k for a descent spec.

The more I look at its @rse, the more I love it and would gladly settle for the V6 TT lump as long as it has a proper MC shift type twin clutch box....Maserati, are you listening???

Only negatives I can see so far is that it is classed as a 2+2, which translates to useless back seats, so why bother, make it a 2 seater with more luggage, or make the +2 bit a storage area.

The only issue I have with this is the stupid goppy like front grill, it's bad enough on the GT cars but this is taking it to a whole new level. Let's hope they tone down the whole Trident mouth,

Trout pout. Will suit the 'new money' people they're trying to attract.

Exciting potential future line up from Maserati, though. Alfieri, Ghibli, QP plus a possible GT/S replacement and that god-awful 4x4 thing.

Thanks for the link Andy; It so wants to have boomerang back lights but they have chickened out and made vents under them..... Makes it very TVR!

I really don't know what I think of this car...

My first thoughts jump to the assumption that Pininfarina we're not involved... at all.

The back looks like the new Toyota sports car.....That also has TVR overtones........I still like the Maserati.....It will def change before produce though I would have thought...THere is no news on if they will make this.

From the press release:

Sportier in character than the GranTurismo, the Alfieri boasts proportions that might well be archetypal for a future true sport car and certainly hint at the brand's stylistic intentions for the near future.

I'm just glad they have finally released a car to replace the 3200/4200/GS and one hopefully with performance to match.

They have been crying out for a smaller car to replace the 3200/4200 shape...

I think it looks bloody lovely. I'd been thinking of straying from the fold this summer, I'd reckon I'd be back if they came out with this.

Not too sure about the front grille look, it leans towards an American muscle car look, rather than a classy supercar, IMHO..!!
