The last pics make it look like a Ferrari, not a bad thing but all good Mas have their own look.

Agree with Matt, for me it's needs to be at min. the size of the GS to make it a fun car or GT to make it like the strad

Interesting point Matt on money, will Maserati go for the big money and make it exclusive or sell more at a lower price.

Either way I'm looking forward to seeing it in production, this will be good for Maserati... plus it's mid-engine :)

On the shot from the rear end, can anyone make out the wording/lettering on the inside under the top part of the rear glass??

I tried to expand the photo to get a better look. It does look like a “Maserati font” based on the shape of a couple of letters...

Am trying to validate how photoshopped it is.. the trident badge on the fuel filler looks the wrong angle

If we are the target market, this car might be almost there. Any new audience will need to get really excited to drive enough interest to brand Maserati.
Anyone see a tiny bit of Peugeot RC-Z?

Initial thought, front and to rear haunches, lovely, actually, stunning.

Rear, I think they could have been more daring, a bit of craziness 3200/Alfieri rear lights would have been my preference, and not just going the easy route of standard twin round lights to set it apart from the rest of the pack, especially Ferrari.

I would also like to see the size, of its Stance, ‘compact’ like a 4C Would not work for me.

What would you pay for it? Well, £180~200k, no way. It’s a £100k or just over car.
Does appear like 4C width with extra length. That might make better proportion than the square original, but still 'compact'.

I really hope it doesn't look like the white rendering - I'm not a fan. I really want Maserati to set themselves apart from Ferrari and no be viewed as a poor relation.

And I agree with Matt, it needs to be closer to £100k than 200.

I think Maserati's next car needs to reflect a successful style such as the GT and the Quattroporte.
Continually changing design confuses the brand identity and therefore the buyer.
Look at the successful manufacturers. A 911 has looked like a 911 for decades and still they sell shed loads, a Ferrari looks like a Ferrari, A Lambo looks like a Lambo. No mistake.
Even BMW and Mercs are unmistakable.
Can't really say that about Maseratis -yet. From a distance the GT could be an Aston/Jag/etc.
I say tweak the GT design but improve the weight, handling, power etc. Follow success. That's what all the others have done.
Redesigning completely is very difficult, ignores past buyers taste and confuses the brand.
Maserati USP is a true 4 adult seat for the GT and a uber cool executive saloon in the Quattroporte. That's what sets them apart from the rest. That's where Maserati has an identity, fast, practical, super cool, 4 seater GT and saloon cars that sound awesome and go like stink.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!. IMHO.

I think that part of the problem is Maserati knowing what they want to be. They nailed it with the 3200, won plaudits for the QP V, seemed to hit the spot again with the Alfieri, and then ….. well, um.

We all know the arguments about market share and the 'must have' SUV, but in reality they sort of lost their way (especially with the diesels). Don't get me wrong the later range did include good cars but, if I'm honest, as good as my QP VI is it doesn't feel as special as the QP V, and although the 4200 did turn heads it didn't turn as many as the 3200. As far as dealers go, if they can't make a buck out of a brand they abandon it and Maserati should learn from that. Likewise, customers don't like being fobbed off with warranty issues and poor support, and if Ferrari can get that right I'm sure that Maserati can.

Although there's been a few high spots with the teasers to date we won't know the final incarnation for a while. I just hope it will be as radical as the 3200 and as pleasing as the GranTurismo, rather than a mishmash of other brands. IMHO they have four boxes to tick; performance, style, heritage, and soul. The first two are commonplace, the latter desperately need reinvigorating.

Be careful, all of these are renders and therefore there will be some quite significant differences. However, the basic shape and size is known and is certainly like a grown up 4c, to my eyes.

It's no surprise since Ferrari do what they always do and stole the Maserati design - this time the Alfieri has become the Roma.

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/did-ferrari-roma-come-maserati-200000177.html

So that left something else from the stable (although Ferrari is now detached) for them to base some platform and component sharing on. Given that they manufactured the 4c carbon tub in Modena, it's the obvious place to start a design.

I hope they go a bit wild with the power and specs and it can be come a Halo car for the brand. Good reviews from the vbloggers and reality TV "stars" and some appearances in Hollywood movies and the like will surely help widen the demographic. I just also hope they aren't relying on a major sales to offset poor sales on their more normal models.

Holy sh*t you're not joking! The similarities are unbelievable.

The Roma, or a reworking with the Maserati style is where the new GT needs to be, sleek and swoopy and not angular and over fiddly.

OK, this new MC20 will attract the new audiences and the GT needs to retain the current, if older fans.

Cover all bases, old and new.

Oh, and the Alfieri still looks bob on IMHO, its stood the test of time well, even if it hasn't been produced yet.

Agreed about needing to be a little more daring but it's been a while since they have been daring, let's see.

However I would be very surprised it is sub £150k. With the final Stradales in 2016 being around £140k for a hand finished car and then the more robotised, production line Levante Trofeo also being £140k, the MC20 with new technologies, possibly carbon tub & body will surely be priced North of these?

Look at what Jag did with its coupe... almost identical to the Aston DB9.

Why can't Maserati do the same with some lower end Ferrari?

Well the DB7 was the XK8 wasn't it? (Not looking to annoy any DB7 fans)

C

The DB7 is an XJS underneath. That's why the DB9 is such a leap from it, they managed to scrape together a few quid to manufacture something a touch more modern.

Agree.
The Alfieri was pretty much everything to All men ( which is why they can’t make it- no longer woke compliant)
Then it all became fairy dust and wishes.
You’d have to be mental to pay Close to £200k for that rendering previously mentioned...:::£100k or so a year less.

Totally agree.
The Roma looks great, until you see the Alfieri.
Does the Roma look pointed and chiselled at each end? The nose shape and lights tend to make me think of the DB11
Going through a tunnel - and the music drowns out the engine?? That Ad agency have never owned a proper V8.
