I told myself I wasn't going to do it. The 3200 should have been good enough. Frightening handling & shocking mid range acceleration certainly made me feel alive. Lovey rear lights, continuous paneling, real full leather interior (many cows had made the ultimate sacrifice), thick carpeting, the last Maserati engine. Still, what about the 4200?
Well, yesterday I collected my new Grigio 04 Cambio Corsa from London & I have to say I think it's great. True, fewer cows have made their contribution to the interior(frankly the seats look like they are covered with Vinyl). The carpets look like they have been put together from polypropylene door mats & the lights stolen from a Skoda Octavia. It feels like a production vehicle rather than an exotic. But that engine, goodness me. & it has so many modern trick bits, cruise control, dipping mirrors when reversing. It also has the uncanny knack of sticking to the road. Some people say its not a sports car, well, they must be very capable drivers, I am not & it's traction level is more than enough for me. Even the gearbox seems good - just back off the throttle when changing up & the changes are quite smooth enough thank you.
So that's goodbye to the 3200 then? I don't think so. The 3200 is just too much of an event to drive. So what I think is this. The 3200 is not as good as the 4200 except that the 3200 is better. Confused? Certainly & that's why I shall be keeping both.
