It's an addiction 4200 joins 3200

I told myself I wasn't going to do it. The 3200 should have been good enough. Frightening handling & shocking mid range acceleration certainly made me feel alive. Lovey rear lights, continuous paneling, real full leather interior (many cows had made the ultimate sacrifice), thick carpeting, the last Maserati engine. Still, what about the 4200?
Well, yesterday I collected my new Grigio 04 Cambio Corsa from London & I have to say I think it's great. True, fewer cows have made their contribution to the interior(frankly the seats look like they are covered with Vinyl). The carpets look like they have been put together from polypropylene door mats & the lights stolen from a Skoda Octavia. It feels like a production vehicle rather than an exotic. But that engine, goodness me. & it has so many modern trick bits, cruise control, dipping mirrors when reversing. It also has the uncanny knack of sticking to the road. Some people say its not a sports car, well, they must be very capable drivers, I am not & it's traction level is more than enough for me. Even the gearbox seems good - just back off the throttle when changing up & the changes are quite smooth enough thank you.
So that's goodbye to the 3200 then? I don't think so. The 3200 is just too much of an event to drive. So what I think is this. The 3200 is not as good as the 4200 except that the 3200 is better. Confused? Certainly & that's why I shall be keeping both.

Good for you - multiple Maserati ownership is the way forward! And so the collection starts...

Well done.

4200's are easier sure, but no better than the old classic 3200!

3200 Gt's are difficult to drive... which makes them even more rewarding when you learn how to do it correctly, as there so bloody quick!

That is spot on and no one can understand it until they have owned both. The 3200 is for sure the heart car and the 4200 the head!

Nareman from Nuvola was selling it on behalf of a customer. Quite high miles, but in really good condition. Interior is absolutely mint & apart from some stone chips on the bumper & bonnet, the paintwork is excellent. It has a really deep lustre to it. I really like the colour. As for Nareman- top man. He has a gentle enthusiasm for the marque & I cannot recommend him enough.

Excellent news. Photos??

Nareman is a great bloke. I met him a while back now. Interesting background and seems like one of the good guys.

Enjoy the new car!

That's a difficult one but If push came to shove, I think it be the 3200 that would have to go. The 3200 is undoubtedly the more exciting car & it's a feeling which takes three forms. Firstly, when you get into the thing, start the engine, smell the interior, the unburnt fuel & listen to the 3.2. Second, when accelerating once Turbo Nutter mode has engaged. Thirdly, thinking you're going to die following engagement of said Turbo Nutter mode & the imminent challenge of an approaching corner, corners being a challenge be in a car with the stability of a 1982 Nissan Cherry.
& then there's the 4200, a car which doesn't have to be driven to the limit to appreciates the aural pleasures of the F136 engine, an engine that has all the aural characteristics of a volcano in a corset, a car which can actually be pilotted round twists by an unskilled driver such as myself.
So there's my confession, not that it matters as at the moment I don't have to make a choice.
I'll post some pics once I've had the opportunity to do a little fettling.

A 4200 is pretty bonkers enough for me....a 3200 is on the edge of sanity....one of those flawed genius types. I think I have the words genius and flawed in my character but mixed up in the wrong order with another word.

A fair comment :)

Old 3200 Gt's are good on the twisties too, along as you use the torque in the higher gears..

If you try and drive it like a normal high performance car a visit to your local A&E is highly likely ;)
