Is a Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S a good daily driver proposition?

That Earl Spencer car has been doing the rounds for months.....I enquired about it when it was at Benfields (Newcastle). Seems a little odd to me that it hasn't sold......simply moves from garage to garage it seems.

?...IIRC the only cars still sold with an clutchless manual car are the MC GranTurismo, the Pagani thing and the Aventador. Small club!

A small but exclusive club and I'd take any of them and be very happy.

Personally I think some who complain about the CC box being slow, maybe need the PIS adjusting..?? My 4200CC Facelift with foot hard down was lightening quick on the change, I sometimes thought it was too fast as I got a distinct thump in the back when changing up. Also I got the throttle blip when changing down every gear..!! The CC is a good box as far as I am concerned..!!

I think Rob it was more to do with the paddles ..... All the 4200/GS I have driven felt the same....It was a longer pull on the paddles compared to others which may have given the perception of a slow change.....Don't get me wrong I like the CC just that it is old tech and I have driven better boxes......But the fact remains there may be better boxes but those cars are not a Maserati and thats the important bit.

Interesting thread this :)

Peoples reason for driving Maserati and their dislike of makes such as BMW are well, amusing at times.

Appreciate the tip off that the ADG car may have some history behind it. I ams till getting dicked around by BMW but been so busy with work that I haven't done much more about the Maser option.

I prefer to judge a brand on it's merits. I just love the imagine that Maserati projects. BMW is ok and I've had a load of them before. I would be tempted to put a 520d badge on an M5 for a bit of fun.

To bring this thread to a conclusion, BMW finally got their **** together so we jumped on a train this morning and picked her up in Edinburgh.Space Grey with Sakhir and standard 19's. Looked stunning, I was so happy with our choice, the 19" wheels look great against the Grey. The M5 is a very colour dependent car and the best wheel choice is also colour dependent.

Stunning! So much advancement since the E60. Techno overload but after a couple of hours it started to become more familiar. The car handles very sweetly and the power is epic. I kid you not, I haven't even used half throttle. On summer tyres and damp roads its a constant battle for grip, the torque is there at any revs. The gearbox is instant, as a manual changer I was so used to the E60 changes that its taking some adjustment to the instantaneous changes of the F10. Amazing car, it boggles the mind how fast cars like the M5 are evolving.

However, with the 4 tailpipes at the back and aggressive stance, you will only fool idiots and they have enough problems already.

I love the clockwise run from Perth up the 93, Balmoral, and back over Cairn O'Mount and through Angus Dundee etc. A lot of roads that were used on Top Gear and some of the Evo drives.
