I hope they've improved the front lift system. The one on my last Lambo wasn't much cop and just led to weeping shocks.

My most recent was a 6.0 lt Diablo VT - it had the advantage of being the last true Lambo, but with the first bit of Audi build quality thrown in. I also think its the best looking modern Lambo. And as with all Diablo's, cracking value with zero depreciation. In fact, all three of my daily driver Diablos I sold for (slightly) more than I had originally paid for them - not something that's easy with a Gallardo or Murci.

Back in Jan 2002 I bought a new 4200 Spyder to replace my 3200 gt. But as anyone who's had an early Spyder knows, the chassis is rubbish and wobbly, and my £72k spend (from memory) felt like money badly spent. So in a fit of pique I decided to buy a Diablo. I chose a nice black 5.7 VT and ran that as my daily for a year. Then, by chance, I saw a blue one being photographed in my square in London, and walked over to see if it was for sale. Which it was. It had only done a few hundred miles, but was by then about 6 years old. A deal was agreed. I then sold the 4200 Spyder and the black Diablo, and kept the blue be as a daily for about another year (maybe about 6000 miles for me back then). Then, and I can't remember why (other than maybe it was sunny) I bought a 355 spyder in giallo-fly (yellow). What a great car. But suddenly a yellow 6.0 lt Diablo became available, and as hardly any of these were sold in the UK I couldn't pass it up.

So I then used this Diablo as my daily and put the 355 up for sale. I actually ended up trading the 355 at Meridien Modena for the gold Khamsin formerly in the Maserati GB collection.

By then I'd relocated to Dorset, had my first daughter, moved offices, etc. In short, life had changed. So, out went the Diablo and in came my first QP V. Brilliant family car. But not so good on the depreciation front! And far higher running costs than the Lambos.

We had a black 6 ltr Diablo with us in Scotland over the weekend. Not sure it was the best car for the (roughish) roads we were blitzing. It certainly had road presence but didn't like being left out overnight in the rain. It had a warning-light disco every morning for the first 20 miles or so. FWIW, I certainly wouldn't swap it for my spyder.

Sorry, I forgot how reliable Maser's are when it comes to warning lights!!!!

But in all seriousness, the Spyder improved considerably as time went on. I had one of the first in the UK, and that was a mistake. I should have waited for the round of improvements. The QP arrived in 04, but the first I bought was an 06. Lesson learned. Though I am tempted by the new Ghibli...

A few years back I had the great pleasure of a ultra manic car ride around Modena in a Diablo VT driven by the then Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni!

Saw this at the Motorshow.....Just horrid...God knows what Lambo are doing....You had the Maclaren P1 and the La Ferrari out at the same time and although I'm not a fan of La Ferrari but at it has some style. To me the Lambo looks like they threw a load of body parts in the air and left them hwere they landed.........I love the current Lambo range and the Aventador is my favourite car but this is a overstyled mess and in the flesh it looked that way to.

Reading your history, I suspect there's a university student on the US forum that would appreciate a message from you :)
