I was intrigued by this as I didn't hold a particularly different view to you, I thought I would crunch some numbers.

In the last 7 days:

Total posts: 1584
Total posts by top 20 members: 823
% of posts by top 20: 51%
....

I do love statistics, and have done my own analysis of the threads and posts on SM (although a lack of reporting tools may make this a little inaccurate):

The top 5 types of thread, by number of times started, representing 32.41% of all threads are:
  • What tyres do I need; is it Pirelli?
  • What insurance do I need?
  • Why is my MSP ASR JFK LBD JPL TLA light on?
  • A fiddly bit inside my 4200 is broken.
  • I just sent these people £10,000, have I been ripped off?
Yet the top 5 threads, by number of replies, representing 99.67% of all posts are:
  • Brexit is ******** and don't you dare disagree with me!
  • We are all going to die!!!!
  • Here is a picture of a bird sitting on a car.
  • A saw a Maserati the other day.
  • I'm so rich that I need advice on stuff to buy like shares, watches and Ferrari Romas.
So my conclusion is (as above), to avoid any thread with over 200 replies, which is likely to be an endless argument, not information. Although there are some fun exceptions.

You missed out “ I woke up this morning”. Which is always a good thing, don’t get me wrong.

Have we had the ‘use the search function’ mentioned yet :clap1::D

That one gets thrown in a lot of forums. But Whilst it can be a bit ‘what this again’. It’s a forum and chat is all it is lol.

Ok the 5 year guy might have seen the same question 10 times but asked slightly different ways 5 times. But if it wasn’t a forum, it would just be a database of faults and cures would it not?
Again I’d never say use the search function in an annoyed fashion. I would say perhaps there’s been one or two previous threads that were really useful, or even link one up. I’d say most people do search (but forum search functions are notoriously **** lol) and then just want to ask in their own way I guess.

Oh by the way does anyone know why I get bad tyre wear on the inner fronts of my GT :p

The search function is pants, far too restrictive ;)

As any true SM thread should, here's a thread drift question.

Post up the last 5 Thread that you STARTED

Actually, for some reason I cannot find out that bloody info!
