H or X pipe

I've got a H pipe and tubi rear boxes on mine and its fairly loud. Autoshield know when im turning up as they can hear me from a distance away so they tell me.

I dont honestly think there is a lot of difference in volume between a H and an X pipe.

Its more perception of volume due to the bassier tone on a H pipe and a H sounds louder at low revs where the X kicks in more above 3k revs.

Its subjective though. Without accurate decibel readings then we just wont know which is louder. My system sounds different to sparts as the rear boxes are different and ive also added two small silencers to tune out the drone i was getting.

a 4200 does not have an x pipe, it has a silencer. Other than that, oem weights 30 kg, while larini does 2 kg.

The 4200 has a silencer and an X pipe immediately after as a single piece. An X pipe (or H for that matter) has the silencer removed.

See pic below.

I'm interested in an H Pipe....how much does a second-hand one go for? Anyone thinking of selling have a Larini one?

As far as X pipes go, is the choice pretty much, Larini or Larini?
Priced on their website at £400 plus Vat. (plus fitting)
Considering the uplift in exhaust note, that seems a bit of a bargain.

Apologies for going off on a tangent. Is a major service kit (for a Granturismo) mostly obtained from a dealer
or from ES? Both seem to be very closely priced.

just cut out the centre silencer and put straight pipes in like i have done on my GTS, you retain the original x pipe, it cost me £40 diy - sorted

How would you describe the difference that made Beau?

It keeps the original sound, just louder :) you won't be disappointed

I have also permantly opened the rear valves, that made a good difference, obviously that means it's loud all the time but that's fine as it was always in sport anyway

Marios can supply X-pipes for the GT I understand

We did a reading last week at Horsham, mine with H was 125.9 dB and Felonius car was 125.8dB (X pipe), both cars identical other than that.
