I've ordered a Larini X pipe after asking you nice people on here but what my old GT/s had was actually a H pipe I think.

Will I be dissapointed with the X pipe sound?

I am after the H Pipe for mine, but was under the impression that the X pipe was louder?

I don't know about the overall volume level but yes, the H is deeper more akin to a US muscle car and the X is more raspy and a little screamer and can sound Ferrari-esk at higher revs. I have to say though, I certainly don't think the H is any quietly than an H. Just my opinion of course

Spartacus has a video of his 4200 with a H pipe fitted and a X pipe fitted which will give you an idea of the sound difference. If you watch and listen to the videos on a phone then use some headphone so you get a better idea of the true sound and volume.

I will try and find the youtube links. If not im sure sparts will be along with the links shortly.

I've got an Larini X on my GS with Larini race pipes (secondary cats delete) and Larini rear boxes. Sounds great, outrageous in sports mode and still sensible cruising at 70. Larini are not cheap but got it spot on. X is more suited to Maserati imo.

i understood some install X, so why if they are standard ?

Its got sound suppressing material round the x pipe on a standard system to tone it down. On the 4200 it is anyway. Its also makes it heavier than it needs to be.

The OEM centre section, whilst it is an X in configuration, does still have an element of silencing around it whereas the Larini X is just pipework with no silencing

The standard centre section (or X with silencer) is probably 3 times the weight of an in silenced X or H pipe.
It's quite surprising how heavy it is.
