For anyone who hasn't tracked their GT/S this gives you a nice insight. I was blown away with how good it handled at Llandow.

Ask Matt, we discussed this last time I was there, he said internals are very different.

According to Eurospares: Crank, pistons and heads. Not feeling that there's anything which will pump more fuel into the exhaust (which is what makes things crackle I understand). As ever, happy to learn though :)

Nice review. A journalist that gets it, nice to hear. It's more than the sum of it's parts, flawed but delicious.

Mine handles well, a little nose heavy and there's too much suspension travel to have real fun on the track but in general it's excellent. If I was a track day junkie, I'd lower it a little and bring down the centre of gravity.

Agreed, propensity to understeer but can be oversteered on throttle basis. A great review.

No one is a driving God! Even the top drivers have had their moments and some their downfalls! However there are some good ones on here so you should be able to get a hot lap if you come to Brunty or Llandow next. :D

Tongue in cheek Phil, although if it fits I would do Brunty for the weekend, could help in an admin capacity I guess and sneak in some laps and spend some time with forum crew!!

I need to be honest here. I love my GTS. It looks and sounds great but it is no sports car setup for the track or even B roads.

It is a very nice Grand Tourer but that is it.

Sure I am no driving god! Far from it and the only "track" I have taken the GTS on is Brunty so not really a full on experience but I have experience in taking a sports car which is able on the track and it is light years a part both on the track and on B roads.

In comparison the handling of the GTS is rubbish. It is too heavy and doesn't corner well.

This is just my own honest opinion.

Hallelujah, it's not a track car, maybe comfortable for a couple of laps, but for continent bashing, how about Le Mans, oh yeah, we are booked on, exactly what it is for,, can't wait!!!
May have my own by then tho!!

Not rubbish, it's quite impressive for size and weight.

I'd agree on all fronts with all. It is no track sports car but neither is the 4200 or GS as they are all to soft with too much suspension travel. They are all very good fast road cars though and a great GT. I think they do all jobs well which is a unique attribute.

They do run pretty well on track when you consider their size and weight. Even the QP surprised me at Llandow as was very good fun and very competent. That is even bigger & heavier than a GT.

The GTS is disappointing on track if you expect a sports car but bloody good if you expect a grand tourer. Where it excels is as the latter. We did a four-up 2.5k miles tour through France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands in 2015 and it didn't miss a beat. Not only that, it sounded amazing and attracted admiration everywhere. Name me one other car that can do that.

Still, the 4200/GS is lighter, more nimble and quicker. It may not be a track car but it's a better one than the GTS.

If you have your own by then does that mean you will take yours?

No "may have" - Takes me ages to pick and choose cars - Happy saving so I dont need to take finance - unless the right car comes along!!
