Flooded Pollen Filter question

Hello all wise ones.

I suspect that the cleaning of the pollen filter drain has not been quite as thorough as it may have been, as I can see water trickling down across the passenger well.

Question is, can that make the *driver's* footwell wet as well? Either via massive condensation on the freon pipes, or via trickle from the filter housing itself, or some other method.

Cos if not, that fix has failed as well.

Not terribly happy, but sure it can be resolved.

Looking forward to input.

I think this may be linked to the blocked Air-Con drain as posted by many, and there is a good photo based fix on here.

Yep, got Matt's how to. Think is it was *meant* to be cleaned out. I suspect the methodology was not perfect. I shall start with the drain. If it's full, then I guess we've found the start of the issue and I'll order another filter.

The drain point is in the drivers footwell and the pipe runs across the back of the centre console, so dampness on the drivers side isn't uncommon. If you use the photo fix and snip a bit off the rubber drain pipe it'll stop it blocking again. I took a hoover to the pollen filter housing and also the fan housing and then re-gassed.

Thanks Emtee. I just went out to have a look, and the hose was so obvious, I couldn't resist.

It wasn't so much blocked (as in Felice hadn't done it properly) as was so collapsed that even when full of water in the sink, it would not drain. The 'Alfa GTV' fix has been applied with the scissors. Everything is back in place, radiator in the footwell on 'high' and fingers crossed. I guess a new filter will be required anyway?

A new filter is always the way to go, but when I cleaned out my system my filter was also sodden, so I put it in a bowl of warm water, cleaned it with a paint brush and then dried it on the radiator. It was a bit fragile when dry, but it did me fine until I changed it at service.

You don't really need a pollen filter in a spyder, when it has the roof down most of the time!

I'll order one and wait until it arrives before I go in through the top. Hopefully I should be able to tell if the water ingress has stopped at least.

Wise words Ben and I suspect damp carpets are common and nowt to do with the AC getting blocked up.

C-man, don't forget the pollen filter from Motex is much much cheaper mate... I went with the Cooper one, list is pasted up on the other thread.
