That hits the nail on the head for a lot of voters north of the borders, after discovering tactical voting to make sure the Tories could not get in, then Labour were no better, there is now a feeling of anti " better the devil you know". You will always have the die hard Labours and Tories, but the middle ground could be swayed more easily purely for the reasons you mentioned. Its probably the failure of neo-socialist policies of labour and the abberration of a Con-Dem shotgun marriage that has spurred things on in the last few years..........and as ever people will more likely vote against something.....than for something.
No-one truly knows what will happen.......bizarrely you could find Scotland "independent", will be a closer ally as a separate entity than they are currently as a disgruntled union member.
There are gains............and there will be loses.....................

Personally I think the Scottish and Welsh should stay part of the UK forever!
We should also be subsidised by the UK, we have had our natural resources raped by the "UK" causing us to lose our independence and any chance of regaining it within the foreseeable future.
We are not in a situation to support ourselves and quite frankly if we were to become "independent" in the near future it would be the downfall of our country's
NB this all happened well before any of us were born and I don't hold the English in contempt because of history between our country's. It is just a fact of what happened.
Without Londons huge financial losses/mess-ups in the 1920/30s.....and just 5 years ago....we would have been a lot better off!!!!!
Incarceration for LONDON!

Frank,
But that's like us in Yorkshire saying Oh that's our oil and we want it for ourselves..?? The fact that the fields are well out in to the North Sea, but are within British Waters, does not mean that anybody in Britain can just claim them as their own, that's a joke and everybody knows it. Norway could have said, "Denmark, if you are interested we have some oil out in the sea by you, do you fancy it for yourself". Britain piled in a load of cash to get those fields established, as well as the oil companies, so the idea is we just hand them over to anybody that wants them..?? It's all pie in the sky..!!
Cheers
