Ouch! That's going to knock a bit! Thanks for sharing, any pointers to the cause?

Esp to the owners eyes...that's some damage.

Sweep stake on the cause?
1) Oil starvation?

Pure speculation but top has come off one piston & unravelled very quickly, second con rod bent is weird but is is a common/shared journal so not such a mystery, the oil in there looks rather sludgy to me so possibly poor maintenance?

Although the scoring inside that cylinder and the fact the piston is still inside the cylinder, presumably stuck, seems to point to the engine seizing at speed due to lubrication failure.

Didn't Clarkson's Merak disintegrate in similar fashion once upon a time? Where he parked in a hedge at the side of a road - rather than a hedge at Peppermint Rhinoceros.

Cylinder 1 piston steel in the liner , piston 8 nothing there totally smashed .
We are still trying to figure out what happen but the car is in Germany all I have it's the engine , I petting that the oil pipe has collapsed from the tank to the oil pump as the customer told me he was only doing 100 mph when it locked up .

Even if it was a sudden oil system failure in guessing the oil light would have come up and he would have a few seconds before engine seizing this badly.
Maybe he didn't hear the oil alert buzzer as he was focused on keeping the car on the road at that speed?

Btw, which car is it?

Probably cheaper to buy a used one from eBay or a local breaker, given the extent of the damage

Gees what a mess...shame for the owner it didn't happen at somewhere south of 100mph! That must have been some gut wrenching wincing noise at that speed. It hurts just thinking about it.

I killed a Bedford Midi engine and gearbox in one go once. Emptied the whole lot on the bottom of the Stevenage South A1M slip road. Nice 20 secs of big bang followed by lots of bits hitting the underside of the van followed by black rear screen. On the midi the engine was in the front next to you so made me jump a bit!

I'm guessing a 4200 and number 8 cylinder. Hole in the side of the block as big as your fist? I pulled something similar out of a F136E earlier this year.
