I watched it, and really enjoyed it, but the tyre thing has gone too far. It's great to see good racing, but they're now stopping the teams want to be fastest around the track in quail' and the performance of the cars across the teams has been completely nullified by how they use their tyres. The cars and drivers are meant to be the factors that determine the result, not the blooody tyre maker!
Hi Guys,
Well that was probably one of the best races in the last 10 years for me,,, I was standing up at the end I could not sit down...
Williams deserved the win, they took the race to ferrari, and ferrari failed to respond, that tactic won them the race, Lotus lost because of a small tactical error, in my opinion. There were races going on all over the track, everybody was having his own issues...
Alonso responded as he needed to, but he stayed in the dirty air of the williams for to long and his tyres went off... Williams on the otherhand called out, preserve your tyres, and it worked. Great tactics by everyone...
I understand your frustration Miles, and to some extent tyres do limit a truly fast driver to show he is faster than anyone else, but equally I feel what you said, "The cars and drivers are meant to be the factors " and I think they are, the car, tyres & driver are all part of the factors, just like when someone does a good job in the rain, conditions are everything... A good driver like Alonso,Lewis,Button etc are all capable of driving well, extracting the best out of a limited package, driving round the car sometimes...
Its also why I made an early call this year, (first race) and said I thought Button & sch would do well, ( I admit I am not doing to well so far!!) but I picked these drivers because they are smooth on tyres and driving style... and we will just have to see, if they come back at any point this year...
But great race guys really awesome!!!!!!!... now we will find out who can really drive a car... its not good in my mind, when results come down to finances.... i.e. big budgets normally win more than small budgets... and we have been tracking this path for the last 20 years....
