The thing I am impressed with is how veterans are respected in the US

At sea World in Orlando about 15 years ago before the show started the announcer asked all veterans in the audience to stand, serving, ex veterans and the families of those no longer with us.

Thousands then applauded them, it was quite a moving experience, I don't know how veterans are treated in the US compared to the UK where it appears to be pretty badly, nobody who's served their country should be struggling to stay alive in one of the richest countries in the world.
Took them long enough for the Vietnam vets though....

I go 6 f

Feel like the US numbers are low.

I will have to observe that on that diagram, it's probably directionally accurate (i.e. the US has far more shootings that Europe and Russia) but there are a lot factors that could be included and are not

And over how long? When was the last UK school shooting? Dunblane in 1996? Which was 26 years ago
District I work with has installed Evolv body scanners at entries, and kids still try to bring firearms in. It's so upsetting and so unnecessary...

I like to cast aspersions at social media, because that's the primary difference between my childhood and the current kiddos: after school ended, you had to REALLY want to keep the conflict going. Because your only option was to knock on a door, or make a landline call, and ask Mrs Jones if Billy was home and would she please let him come out so you could beat his @ss...but today, you can keep it stirred up on the faceyspaceys allllll night.

And until I was 12, I had a household full of guns. Never once did it occur to me to use one on my schoolmates. A snow shovel, yeah...a ball bat, well maybe...but a gun? No way...

I think it's something to do with computer games that people get addicted too and then can't distinguish between reality and the game they spend hours on.
Stuff like Grand Theft Auto where you can do diabolical things as if it's the normal thing to do it.

Another big difference, as well

Clearly, access to guns is a differentiator...but I still don't think it's causal.
