I watched a video about US defence spending, 20% of taxes, $800bn

More than the next 9 countries combined, how much of that has never fired a shot, scrapped or mothballed n the desert, all paid for though, juicy government contracts so somebody got rich.

Just imagine what they could do for the people with even 10% of that budget
It’s not that simple. The US military employs so many people it acts as a form of social welfare.

Unfortunately any drop in US military spending would be a green light for any brazen despot to come out of the woodwork, even Putin is very wary of American military might.

American girls all weather and noise
Playing the changes for all of the boys
Holding a candle up to my hand
Making it feel so incredible.

Do the UK ones do that?

Any drop??? I agree the psychology of a cut might be influential, but in any practical sense, the USA could halve its military spending and still be absolutely unbeatable.

Building houses for the homeless can do that, too.

Speaking of, as a petty officer with a small family...we were eligible for (and received) WIC benefits. So, receiving a federal paycheck in return for my literal life, which was so small I had to get federal government assistance to feed my kid.

We have the same nutters over here. They might not want a gun but they’re equally as stupid.
Main difference is that our nutters have no easy access to guns.

Many I believe however come out with valuable training. Not all are in the services for combat. Medical, engineering etc etc so a form of further education.

Man 'flu is like normal 'flu but as experienced by men, i.e. far FAR worse than anything up to, and including, death.
Man maths is the marvellous field of mathematics that, by using irrational numbers, one can demonstrate that buying (for example) high maintenance, high fuel consumption, high performance cars is a financially sound decision. Can also be applied to other 'man' purchases of items such as HiFi, computers and anything else with a traditionally low WAF.
Man Isle (Isle of Man?) is, in fact, short for the name of a god. (Didn't know this until last week)

Think we are at 37 mass shootings in the first 23 days of the new year...sigh.

If guns are the problem...take the guns.
If idiots with guns are the problem...then stopping giving guns to idiots.
