Change those F1 relays!

I would power down using the isolator near the whenever changing electrical components, it's best practise in the electronic world.

the fan relays have the same number as the F1 relay but different part numbers

155437 - £40.00 - 50a F1 relay
184951 - £ 2:30 - 50a fan relay

hmmm...

I just saw this thread pop up - you may be interested in an article I wrote about upgrading the relay on a 360 (I think the Maserati has the same relay).

That's very interesting thanks for posting.
Earlier in this thread it was concluded that pin 87a (thin black wire) was not used, but you have found that it is and is used to eliminate voltage spike with the original relay type. See photo below, it shows the flyback diode symbol on the BMW replacement relay used as a replacement for the standard relay still with 5 pins.
The new 50 Amp 4-pin relay that does not use pin 87a in your guide, and your tests indicate that voltage spike is not a problem with it, is it a standard 50 amp relay or a Ferrari only special part number 233100?
