Try it and see. Only 4 pins are needed. The 5th pin will be change over. It will not cause damage. It might not work but bet it will

Exactly - the 5th pin is N/C switched rather than N/O. Don't worry about it.

The two parallel pins are the control to operate the relay. The two pins in a T formation are the switched supply to the pump. Any other pins are not required.

Great service from Alfa Workshop, relay no 11130287 50A .£16.18delivered overnight to the end of the earth..Scottish Highlands.

Has any one actually fitted this part to 2003 420 Spyder.?

the bm part number has been replace / superseded - this part was too different to take a risk on the F1 pump:
- the relay was smaller
- one of the switch pins was smaller
- grey in colour similar to the old version I've seen on here (not an issue but only brand marks were BMW)
- had a 5th pin (not sure if an issue)
- however did support 50a and all the pins excluding the 5th pin matched on pin-outs

The alfa part matched and was cheaper than the bm part :) win win

11130287-001 - £13.32

the ohms resistance wasn't much between them so seem identical

once air-intake is back and engine put back, should be ready to test :)

I'm happy to start a group buy but with delivery not sure it will save much - can look into it if we have a few interested - otherwise a quick run down to your local Alfa to get the part - maybe your get the option to look around the 4c / 8c :)

Maybe...but the fifth pin is wired up, the thin black wire, so is 'live' only when the pump is not running, on my 2002.
Where this thin black wire terminates, I don't know?

Here is photo as described of Relays..the Alfa part Forum members are saying fits is not a straight swop as far as I can see, again, has any one straight switched 4pin Alfa part no.0011130287 for the original 5pinTyco relay as fitted to my car.

I thin it's time to get some definite answers to this one...

In the first photo, you have them 90 deg out of. Your original is 5 pin, the 5th as has been stated is not used.

The pins are different sizes which is unusual. Sure that's the relay that was originally fitted?

Just took it out this morning..original Tyco , the Alfa parts blades are all the wrong width and length apart from one..there is something fishy going on..

Sorry, my point is 'how do you know someone has not already swapped it?'

If the Alfa one physically fits (i.e. the blade sockets are large enough) it will work. I can envisage that the Tyco will fit in a socket designed for the Alfa, but not vice versa

The Tyco has the correct part nos. I could not get the Alfa part to fit without reducing the contacts to the same size as the Tyco ,same as other poster.
Perhaps there are two different units, think if I can't get BMW unit ,5pin same size of contacts as original,I will buy original.

Grinding away contacts ..no fun.

Are we sure the fifth pin is not used? Its wired up, for a reason one would assume?
Wish we had access to a wiring drawing!

I could not agree more..it would seem to me there may be two different units, Spyder..Coupe ,we Spyder men must have 5pin original , hard tops have 4pin?
