Yeah, surprisingly amazed when I test drove it, looks so right too.
Post a picture when you get it. I have been considering one and would be really keen to hear your thoughts. Presumably you are going for the first of the second gen?

I’ve finally, after much research, decided that the Ghibli is going to have to go. Combined factors of much more mileage and a new dog on the horizon means that an estate car is needed. My original thoughts were a Mercedes C/E 63 but the I’ve put my sensible shoes and big boy pants on and decided that a diesel is the way to go. So the contenders are 2018 ish BMW 5 series, Mercedes E Class or Audi A6. I love the Ghibli but it’s just not going to be practical going forward. It’s going in to JHM in Crewe later this month for a full service then one way or another it will be sold.
We had a 2018 530 X drive Tourer with M Sport kit, fabulous place to be and the engine could pull and pull. Test drove an E estate, whilst the dashboard is a marvel the drive didn't feel quite as engaging as the BMW, but I don't think you'll far wrong with any of those 3 choices.

Anyone planning any car changes this year?

After 8 years of the Ferrari 400i, my plan this year is to swap it for something else from the 1970-80 period.
Current contenders are:
Maserati Khamsin or Bora
Lamborghini Espada or Jarama
Aston Martin DBS V8 has an outside chance also.

Let the fun of the hunt begin!

How about a De Tomaso? There's a few on the market with a fair spread of price/condition. Alternatively, pop along to Hairpin when you're next in Wiltshire:

My car plan is to reinstate the Assetto Corsa, in-between hopefully moving house. The V12 itch was scratched long ago with an Espada, build quality was iffy, but most will be restored to a far higher standard. It's interesting to see the parts bin philosophy back then, seats , lights etc , many parts shared with other Italians which can be a good thing.

Maybe an air cooled Porsche? Or better still a GT3 RS either from 997 or later. Then again a GT3 sans RS?

Wonderful engineering.

  • GS Spyder
    • Plan is that the engine gets finished and installed early on in the year, depending on the gods of Maserati parts supply mainly
    • Install the bits I've got (carbon seat backs, better speakers, ...) and do a general clean up (detailing out- and inside, probably will have a go at this myself
    • Get the car properly imported and taxed
  • Swap the daily Jag F-Pace for Merc EQE (foreseen for June)
  • Drive the MGB (didn't at all in 2022 despite swearing I would)

GR86 incoming in March.
Unless i a have a surprise influx of enormous piles of cash in the next 8 weeks either the QP GT S or the 147 GTA will have to depart. This is very upsetting, as I’d prefer to keep them all, but this won’t be an ‘acceptable’ option…

Plus, I need to get my RSV1000 back on the road this spring/summer. Although I may need to lose a few kg’s to fit into my leathers first!

GR86. The best non-Maserati car launched this (last) year. Respect!
