OK
Some remainers, fair enough.
Yes friction costs
It will be a Brave New World.
I saw on ITV news tonight 6.30pm an article about some businesses being un prepared and how damaging that would be.
I have not seen ANY article about the Premier Farnell/Avnet preparations (or any other company) I alluded to in my original post.
There will be winners and losers - there always have been

And while we're (I) are (am) on the subject of women, I just can't get it through to her that the fan in her car doesn't control the temperature, the other knob with the red and blue swirls on does, will she have it? Will she fûck.

Mrs C can't get her head around the 'Turn the bloody aircon on and leave everything else apart from temperature alone' thing.

It's the split controls, I have it on both side on same, but I like it cold and she likes it hot, every time she asks the same question, 'which is the button that makes it hot on my side?'....

When we lived in West Leeds and travelled back to Lancs, or Cleckheaton for her waxings as she never stored the way in there head the millions of times I drove her there and now she's passed her test it's like that four years never happened....

Anyway, drive through Bradford, take the M606 and EVERY BLOODY TIME WE MERGE ON TO IT it's 'is it 70 here?' - started to really bug me 'Is it a motorway? What's the limit on a motorway if no signs to the contrary' and then she says 'It's that chimney, always throws me' FFS...

The chimney is the steam vent for Bowling railway tunnel, really, if you are driving in the Lancashire or Yorkshire areas you ought have at least a basic understanding of Victorian Railway practice and steam locomotive ventilation requirements in an enclosed environment such as a tunnel.

I mean, come on!

That’s a really lovely rant.

My take is what do we (the UK) generally do? Mostly cheap takeaways and abundant taxis.

The BIG money is banking and as I worked in banking, I know a lot of it is going to Dublin and Fwankfwort, if a significant portion of that goes and we look at the UK and assess what we do, it's not much. We import it cos banking made us rich, some more than most but we all benefited.

It's all ifs and buts though, we really just don't know until we do it. But isn't the safe option just not to do it? Better the devil you know.

To most people it doesn't matter because they voted for Great Britain, the Return, in real live there'll be not much difference apart from higher prices, but it get worse if the Tories do their worst, we can all see the zero hour thing becoming the norm, health and safety out the window (JRM - Indian standards good enough).

It's a mess. I'm out. I'm in Ireland. I've worked in Denmark, Sweden, Ireland,, Germany and Switzerland (and a bit in Belgium) and no one seems to even think about the EU, it just 'is'

Now either they are all wrong, or the UK is 'special' and like Dostoyevskiy's Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment, senses a schism and the UK is really special...

It isn't. And neither was Raskolnikov....

er... Finland currently holds the presidency of the EU commission
Yes it does -which should make it well aware of the need for diplomacy.
I think “threats” in general tend to get a poor response especially if they’re out of kilter with messages elsewhere.

Like the numerous threats weve made to the EU?

Here is just one of the things. I consult for a number of ftse companies. It isn't just enough preparing, if the regulator in the EU country wont grant a license, it doesn't matter how well prepared you try to be, you're toast.

Same with smaller companies. Some can put contingency plans in place, but some imported products are going to be difficult to manage, if the port tailbacks and customs checks are to be believed.

It's great that large companies like PF are doing things, but a few companies do not maketh the whole economy and PF are relatively small fish in the big pond that is the UK.

Except when it just appoints who it wants....Von Der Layen.
And who appoints the WTO. Can you tell me when we democratically elected those members? When is the election for that going to happen so I can make a choice. :lol2::lol::lol2:

The French and Finnish threat was not something signed off by the rest, in fact it’s out of line with the Eu vote and Junckers latest 31st comments.
They’ll both look mighty stupid in 11 days when they’re put back in their place.

And don’t forget Keke Rosberg, Mika Hakkinen, Kimi Raikkonen, Valtteri Bottas, Heikki Kovalainen, Mika Salo, Hannu Mikkola, Markku Alen, Pentti Airikkala, Timo and Tommi Makinen, Ari Vatanen, Juha Kankkunen, Henri Toivonen.......
And how could we not acknowledge “The Scandinavian flick” (which is really appropriate here and which I originally thought was a two finger salute but it isn’t) :lol2::lol::lol2:. I mean fancy “other” people talking down other Europeans like that eh......:D:p:D

You missed a few, JJ Lehto, Marcus Gronholm, Timo Salonen, Harro Rovenpara, Rauno Aaltonen, Pauli Toivonen and his other son Harri all from such a small country

I think what the EU president said is political posturing - and part of a negotiating tactic.

However, it’s also not unreasonable, as if we are going to have any chance of agreeing a new deal, based on new proposals, by the end of October, it doesn’t seem daft to say those proposals need to have been shared, in writing, by the end of September
