Heh heh, welcome to the world of motoring.

Unfortunately Adam, you may turn out to be a very careful driver, but there are a lot of youngsters out there who will drive quicker than their experience permits and crash a car. No reflection on you, just a statistics thing.

Once you have a few years NCB under your belt, life will be easier. Alternatively, just get a well paid job and do lots of overtime, and then you won't notice it so much!

I think that will have to be the plan Pat, well paid job with over time or wait and get a good amount of NCB. Think i would need around 6-8 yeard NCB before looking at cars with the top insurance group.

And in 8 years you will be looking for a house. All a bit of a bugger really!

Just pointing out to Adam that things don't always happen in the order you would like them to happen. I think we all would have liked to be running high powered cars in our early 20s, some will have managed it but a lot probably wont have. No reflection on the individual but priorities change as you get older.

Adam there are some other guaranteed ways ............................... you could always start a boy band with a few of your mates and go looking for Louis Walsh ,or find a rich sugar Daddy, but that would mean changing your male side to a femine side, eg, Louis Walsh , or get in contact with a TV game show promoter and become a panel Judge eg Louis Walsh .................. either way if you want a Maserati whilst your young it seems you'll be bugggered................litterally

Your enthusiam without doubt is blatantly obvious to all those on here that know you , Best advice i can give Adam is to invest in a few high performance track days , and get written evidence of instruction ie the certificate they provide , do an advanced driving test as soon as you have finished your main driving test, you can then approach a few specialist insurance companies for a personal quote , this will negate the age impedance

before you start all the above , do you know that your actually an OK driver , you'll be surprised at the amount of people that just havent got the slightest clue /logic how to be a good driver and end up having to take 5/10/20 tests

regards loz

You need to breath and stop adam.....
One thing at a time.....no offence but you aint got a driving licence yet, pass that then comes a job, then comes your 1st car then working hard to move up in your job then maybe improve your car....itll be a long time but along the way you wont notice not driving a maserati as youll be busy with the other things going on in your life, that 1st car, you mght slag it off now but believe me youll love it....the job, you will be so busy movong in the right direction that when the opp arises for you to own a GS it could be 8 yeafs from now....would you still buy one?? A GS will be 16 years old, now im not saying you shouldnt but there will always be another car at the time that takes your attention....

So just relax.....enjoy life while you at home woth no mortgage, no kids.....

Sage advice for you there Adam; I'd only add - LIVE, experience life and the world whilst nothing ties you down, don't get hung up on BHP whilst the insurers are going to slaughtrer you.... You will look back in possibly 6 or 7 years and wonder "How did I get HERE??" but hopefully here will be a great place....

Be industrious, enthusiastic, a fast learner, and even an entrepreneur (had to look that one up!), it is possible to make money rapidly without prostituting yourself and this is best done when you have nothing to loose or mouths to feed!

(Now going to have Talking Heads as an earworm all day!)

I would say i was an "ok" driver yes, never try and put myself or the other motorists in danger when on the road, always respect the rules of the road and other motorists and i always use the indicators, annoys me how many people out there who do not use their indicators, my driving instructor especially goes mad and he said to one motorist " i take it indicators were an optional extra on your car" :D.

My dad said when i pass, do a pass plus and like you say, invest in a couple of driving experience days, this will show the insurer you can "handle" a quicker car.
