I see Ocado has now shut down their app. Seems a good way to kick off some real panic buying if the other home delivery services follow suit.
Dianne's struggling to get an online Waitrose orderaccepted before Friday. I mentioned the three pheasant limit but they have run out of that now too.

Why will people run out of money. Surely if under lockdown they won't be spending. Take the Mrs and myself we are both paid at the end of the month, wages will come in and fuel etc, food bills and other general day to day **** we normally spend when out and about will not go out of the accounts so actually by being at home and already stocked with fridge and freezer full we will be saving cash.... Most decent employers will continue to pay wages especially to those who can work remotely and to teachers etc and it has been made clear that only key workers will be able to leave the house to continue. These are my circumstances so YMMV.

So we need more trucks and daily deliveries to every supermarket in the country until this demand falls away.

I've supplied transport for 30 years to a company that manufactures truck parts , not any more though, not for a while anyway, Volvo Scania Daf Mercedes Renault have all closed their factories for the foreseeable future , supermarkets are far and away the biggest buyer of new trucks so hopefully if they can't buy new ones they'll farm the work out to other companies

Are people going to ignore the sell by dates, and go old school, if know what to do? Maybe we should start a thread, if the egg floats don't eat it!
Well I remember when I was a young whipper snapper in the 1970's my mum used to scrape the mould off the bread before toasting it and sprinkling a stale loaf of bread with warm water and putting it into the oven to "freshen it up".Ooooo...those were days! :D

Depends on if banks are still functioning.

No doubt it provided some healthy bacterial resistance!

Fingers crossed for you mate!. I really hope that you do pick up loads of work. Where there is a disaster there is often an opportunity. So see if you can get stuck
into the supermarket and / or the NHS distribution network to see if you can pick up some work. Got to be worth a try.

Am currently eating food from the freezer of my flat that has sell by dates of 2013/2014 (demonstrating that I never normally cook down here). Will give me an opportunity to defrost the freezer when I have emptied it - hopefully by which time the shops will have food again!

Our company supplies Ford and Peugeot-Fiat-Chrysler-Dodge, and we've just heard the these two giant automakers will be shutting down until at least the end of the March. I read this in a news publication, and yet no official communication was sent out to the suppliers...now nice! Contigo in post #2103 above stated..."Most decent employers will continue to pay wages"....I wish this were the case. I am a salaried employee, but last year due to a strike at GM (my plant does not even supply GM) we had to take what management calls "furlough days", these are unpaid days off. I asked if I could use vacation time and was told "no", and yet I had to work on some of those days to support our customers. So with this shutdown coming I fear we will have several "furlough" weeks with no income. The Trump economy is great, but an unfortunate byproduct of it is GREED, and that's all companies are about. Gone are the days when you landed yourself a good job at a solid company, and you would likely work there until you retired. Now days if you are not actively contributing to the bottom line every minute of your day - your gone.
