I don't know about the first two pics, but the third one is on the A303 near Solstice Park (Amesbury) and it is a very old photo.

PH
There a few pics and videos starting to circulate, a couple recognisable, close to me, and date stamped today.

Our company supplies Ford and Peugeot-Fiat-Chrysler-Dodge, and we've just heard the these two giant automakers will be shutting down until at least the end of the March. I read this in a news publication, and yet no official communication was sent out to the suppliers...now nice! Contigo in post #2103 above stated..."Most decent employers will continue to pay wages"....I wish this were the case. I am a salaried employee, but last year due to a strike at GM (my plant does not even supply GM) we had to take what management calls "furlough days", these are unpaid days off. I asked if I could use vacation time and was told "no", and yet I had to work on some of those days to support our customers. So with this shutdown coming I fear we will have several "furlough" weeks with no income. The Trump economy is great, but an unfortunate byproduct of it is GREED, and that's all companies are about. Gone are the days when you landed yourself a good job at a solid company, and you would likely work there until you retired. Now days if you are not actively contributing to the bottom line every minute of your day - your gone.
Not being able to use vacation time is just stupidity...and these guys are running this shitshow!

Just had it confirmed from a colleague that it’s hit london. Xxxxxx is full of Covid patients. Specialists been re allocated out of their areas of expertise to ITU and A and E to help. Already run out of personal protective gear after 48 hours.

So the nightmare has started at full throttle. This is horrendous but perhaps not unexpected given that London generally have been quite sloppy in implementing the UKG guidelines which we heard about today in Borris's press conference. If there is a big spike up now it needs to be contained so dont be surprised if "lock down' for London starts tomorrow. I suspect it will be pretty rigorous.

Well all I would say then is it's not operating fast enough. Having spent 31 years working as a Proc and Supply Chain Director in the military aviation world, I know that response rates should be agile and resourced up enough to always match demand , whatever that is especially in a 'wartime_/military conflict ' situation. As Borris says we are on a war footing which demands extraordinary working and responsiveness. So we need more trucks and daily deliveries to every supermarket in the country until this demand falls away.
Having spent 20 years in retail and food manufacturing the logistics are against the retailers at the moment. For a start any forecasts are out of the window, and this will affect suppliers. Then you have the basics of how supermarkets work, when they’d reasonably expect to carry stock over each trading day. When entire sections are stripped in 3500 main stores there’s no way to catch up. We’ve delivered 1500t extra in 5 days alone, and I can tell you it’s not touched the sides, and that’s just one manufacturer. Each supermarket store can have 30000 different products and factor the average output for 1 person doing replenishment is 40-60 cases per hour if they're left alone and not breaking up fights etc. and despite the common misconception about supermarket workers and shelf stackers being of limited intelligence it’s hard work and takes a little getting used to finding locations. Also some products can’t be made quicker - cheese for example was laid down 12 months ago, you can’t get cows to produce more milk overnight to satisfy Tracey and her panic buying. It’s been the perfect storm that no amount of planning could have prepared for. We will see stores ranging fewer products moving forward to try and simplify things.

It’s Confirmed that London will be Locked down. Keyworkers only using public transport. All bars etc etc shut. I personally think London will have it worse due to their social fabric and cosmopolitan makeup - but I hope the chief government advisors pop down to a and e to catch up with some of the family members as they Skype for the last time from their iPad in isolation. PS/ half hospital admissions are under 60.

School shut from Monday. I hope you all take it in turns to visit me in the clink. I am hoping the jury pity me for having to spend weeks shut up in the house with 2 teenagers and the Mrs. I might buy another shed to move in to.

The admissions under 60 are to be expected, probably those over 60 are taking it a bit more seriously and adhering to advice and common sense. Admittedly, it’s likely due to fear but non the less being more sensible. If you don’t close pubs, clubs and the like, they will still be full of idiots who don’t give a toss. That’s why it has become necessary for the powers that be to make decisions for the idiots.

You say that, but I am hearing, and experiencing, older people being quite fatalistic about it and are taking buses and wondering around the town. It’s quite frustrating!

How do you mean under 60s admissions are to be expected? They don’t get to choose- they are admitted as they are Medically very ill- it’s the opposite - they aren’t expected to be admitted at that age at all for respiratory viruses...

It will be very frustrating for them if they get it as they won’t be ventilated. Rationing tools are being used for all patients now with any condition. Based on age and co morbidity - it gives a simple number and This decides if you get an ITU bed or not. It’s evidence based. Anyone milling about now over 70 is either brave or ...

Indeed. It has been explained, firmly.
