Our company supplies Ford and Peugeot-Fiat-Chrysler-Dodge, and we've just heard the these two giant automakers will be shutting down until at least the end of the March. I read this in a news publication, and yet no official communication was sent out to the suppliers...now nice! Contigo in post #2103 above stated..."Most decent employers will continue to pay wages"....I wish this were the case. I am a salaried employee, but last year due to a strike at GM (my plant does not even supply GM) we had to take what management calls "furlough days", these are unpaid days off. I asked if I could use vacation time and was told "no", and yet I had to work on some of those days to support our customers. So with this shutdown coming I fear we will have several "furlough" weeks with no income. The Trump economy is great, but an unfortunate byproduct of it is GREED, and that's all companies are about. Gone are the days when you landed yourself a good job at a solid company, and you would likely work there until you retired. Now days if you are not actively contributing to the bottom line every minute of your day - your gone.
