A vaccine isn't the only was to 'fix' a virus. You can effectively eliminate a virus with rapid testing of everyone and isolating them if infected. The virus will soon die out. You can also alleviate any problems the virus causes if its medical effects are minimal.

These products usually take 5 years or more to get through testing. As an example, the Dyson ventilator took 5 weeks from the initial meeting to a the first production products rolling off the production line. All of the invasive products I have developed since the start of the pandemic, as have most of those by other engineers/chemists/medical teams, been given emergency medical approval, i.e. to be used on COVID patients only. One of the rapid testers had already been approved for chlamydia so only needed confirmation of the accuracy of the COVID result as it is non-invasive.
