Anyone taken a front wing off?

I have some bubbled paint on my motor on the driver's side wing, my front and rear bumpers also need attention and I need to get Nico's spoiler painted; my question is has anyone on here taken a front wing off as I suspect this may be the easiest way for me to get the paintwork sorted as I can deliver the parts only to the body shop and even prep them myself and save a few bob.

I haven't looked at the bottom end but the top is bolted right? Any shims or packers to note? Being Italian I'm guessing it is made and then made to fit!

My job for the weekend...

would most likely need to get a painted wing blended into the door as well so it matches.

I'd tend to agree with Beau Newton. Unless you plan to flatten the whole thing, I can't see how you'd get a good match.

Loz replaced a wing so send him a PM. I agree with the others, no need to remove it.

Only that the motor is SORN at the moment so as I want to take the bumpers off as part of my winter works anyway I just think it is easier if I can take the parts only to the body shop. I'm willing to take the chance regarding blending; after all they wouldn't be spraying the bonnet and there is a shut line just the same there for the front bumper and wing...

I haven't really got two weeks I can loose the car for to get it sorted this side of the run to correct the paint on the rest of it and properly build the wax like I want to do...

Newton, can I ask you do some photos of the removals? I'm happy to do a write up, but (personally) I really want to know how to get the rear off so I can sort my reversing sensors :)

Cheers

Having removed a damaged wing & front bumper to replace them I seem to remember that there are a couple of welds on the wing in the top corner under the scuttle panel/door shut area. The wings are also bonded with very strong sealant along the door edge which if you are not carefull you will mis-shape the wing as you remove it. Refiting the wing & bumper caused major problems when putting the headlight back in

Personally I think that you would be better having the wing painted on the car as it will need blending into the surrounding panels to get a proper finish.
