Alternative parts, what everyone needs to know...

Have you received them yet? I’m intrigued as to whether they are the copies from China or OEM in a different box?
Topeuro just called to confirm a few details before shipping the rotors. I took the opportunity to ask a few questions while on the phone to them. They confirmed the rotors are aftermarket ones and country of manufacture is Poland.

I've got them, installed. About 500 miles so far, zero issues but I am still taking it easy breaking them in. Using a set of EBC Red Stuff pads as well. Pretty dust free so far. If it stays like this... looks like a winner. They were US$1100 + shipping, so pretty reasonable.

Vanity mirrors in the sun visors are identical to the ones found in ALFA ROMEO 147 Ti and GTA pre-2007. Worth buying the whole visor for the £60-odd brand new and taking the unit out if it's suffering like many from broken retaining tabs...

Does anyone know if there are easy fixes for a Drivers side sunvisor when it fails to hold its closed position? I get the feeling there is a retaining spring loaded clip that fails? So have not removed it yet to check.

If these are a known issue is there an alternative part or OEM only?

Thanks

I thought this was referring to just the vanity mirror but will check the Alfa option out - thanks
Ah you may be right. Because you said 'closed position' I thought that's what you meant.

Do you mean the whole visor is not staying up and dropping down?

Yes Alfa. Think 4200 are GTV and GT/QP are another Alfa, have a look at 159/Brera

The search continues...

Top : Quattroporte rear
2nd : Quattroporte front
3rd : Alfa 166 front
4th : Alfa 159 front

The 159 holes on the car body are wider than the QP, 166 right shape but too short.
I'll try some more models..

I’m not convinced you’ll find an alternative. They probably have to be specific for door weight, opening angle etc. The mech might be the same but the rod could be easily and cheaply be specific for each car.

When I worked at the Dealership we used to just fit new rubbers a very quick job indeed supplied by Wurth but made by many.

Just found another alternative part bargain - washer jets for the QPV (and probably the Granturismo & Grancabrio). The exact same part was used on the Alfa 156. I ordered a pair from Partsworld UK via eBay for £10 delivered, vs £24.60 for 2x part# 67876200 from Eurospares. Search for Alfa part#7767818

Not a massive saving, but we don't like the same part being sold under different part#s at inflated prices :)

The inlet rotates to whatever orientation you need, by the way.
thanks - price increased on Ebay to £24 the pair but still far less than £66 the pair from Eurospares

So the wing mirror covers and wing mirror glass for the Alfa 159 are a perfect match (same serial no for the wing mirror covers) for facelift QPV (and I suspect the Granturismo which uses the same wing mirror assembly but I haven't actually tried them on those cars).

Alfa159 wing mirror covers are available on ebay in chrome, carbon fibre, primer or even painted in your car colour if you provide the PPG No (car parts express) for about £42 a side delivered.

The mirrors - the wingmirrorman.co.uk

Enjoy
My drivers side mirror is floppy, I think must have been knocked. I guess I will need whole mirror mechanism.

Does anyone know if the 159 is the same for the whole mirror assembly, or just the glass and cover?

If not, anyone got a drivers side mirror assembly for a facelift QPV!

Do you have the chromatic anti-glare wing mirror or standard? The reason I ask is that the wiring and connectors etc are different

I don’t know. Is there an easy way to tell or would it be on the build sheet of the car as an optional extra?

My first 4200 had this issue and I put up with it for years... only to find out when putting it up for sale that it was just a loose screw under the main mirror shell.
