Your getting too old for all this car stuff then mate.. Even thinking about owning a Jag gets you shot!

Can you imagine ever buying one:( even with someone else's money!

Your redemption on here as I see it... is at some point you buy another an old Alfa or a Maser 3200GT!

We wait in anticipation!

I'll take you out in my XJL SuperSport and you might change your mind about a stuffy old Jag

Sad to hear of your plight C but needs must and you've had a good run. Maybe order a new Alfieri for the weekend when it arrives!

Good luck Jake and enjoy.

C, I really enjoyed my XJ 3.0D TT 275. Great car, no problems other than partially blocked fuel filter putting into limp mode twice until changed. Only because it didn't get change when it should have done though by previous owner.

I just got bored with narrow power band of diesels and lag as only reasons I moved out of it. That was my last diesel. If I did different journeys and more miles I'd have another Jag for sure.

The XJ isn't much more money and no heavier than earlier XF's. Well worth a look as lovely interiors and bit less common than XF. My BIL and brother both had XF diesels for a fair while and both enjoyed them. A bit bigger though especially in LWB.

No Maserati, mods, please ban him now!!!

On a serious note, you can get a Ghibli diesel for 15k at the auctions, would that not tick two boxes at once. They are quite good, I like the petrol more but the diesel makes sense with your mileage.

Old diesel cars will be done in 18 months time in towns and cities..
You might be lucky to get away with a petrol version of the same vehicle for another couple of years!

Ghibli or QP would be on the cards but right now I need cheap motoring for 12000+ motorway miles. Both in fuel and depreciation.

Starting saving for my MC today :D

If things work out that, or a Strad will be my 50th birthday present. Probably as s weekend toy, and keep running the Jag (or similar) as the motorway beater.

How ever you look at it, JLR product's are just boring..
Hence the lack of sales!

Dave
I wouldn't call their products boring at all so we'll agree to disagree there. I had a h3ll of a lot of fun in all the FTypes when they came out at an Evo/Jaguar day at Millbrook.

They had revenues of over 25 billion last financial l year with over 600,000 vehicles sold. I wouldn't call that a lack of sales.

The problem with any company when you get that big is the inability to adjust and shrink back when sales fall. It is like turning the Titanic....it isn't going to take 5 mins.

We've had a Freelander 2 for 5 years that has been brilliant and just replaced it with a Discovery Sport which is also very nice.

My XJL SuperSport is a 500bhp+ RWD luxury sports saloon. It is far from boring to own or drive.

I love the Maserati brand, it's products and what it was but there is still a great deal to enjoy about many (not all!) JLR products.

Sad day indeed Chris. 3 months without a Maserati and I’m sure you will be on the serious hunt.

Athol’s Ghibli D is a good shout.
