Sad and happy for Chris and Jake, a lovely example there.

I know very little about Jags so I’ll shut up.

It's always a shame when real life gets in the way of what you would like! No doubt you will be back in the fold soon though.

That interior looks in incredible condition for a car that’s done 100k+ miles!

100k +? C, I thought you said you'd clocked it back to <90k. I suppose the miles you've been doing it didn't take long to get back up again. :)

If you're looking at XFs then give an XFR a whirl. They've done their depreciating, are pretty frugal and go like a stabbed whippet. Sound ok, too.

Jake, welcome! You're clearly a man of fine taste. Post here often and join in. Crucially, tell Chris frequently how much you're enjoying his old car. He'll need a few prompts to get him back in something that makes him go weak at the knees, before middle-age and a love of hyper-miling start to eat away at his lust for life and love.

Hmm. I wonder if my credit card is going to get spanked. Didn't realise how frugal they were!

Ah that is sad news, always loved the interior of your 4.2 mate, good luck with whatever you settle for in the interim and I hope to see you back in a trident again soon

If it's a diesel XF you're going for buy one that's been used on the motorway :, I know a guy that's had one 8 years bought at 2 years old , it's only done 46k and is immaculate, only it's just had 2 new turbos at a cost of £4800 ouch

XFR....frugal....are you sure? Not the first work I would have thought springs to mind when mentioning XFR. I did get 40mpg on the way back from picking up my XJL SS though but that was at 60mph all the way home. Most of the time it sees half that ;)

Chris is a motorway plodder now. And besides, post-Maser, most things are frugal.

Martin, I might know someone who might want your steering wheel in a swap with a stock 4200 + cash if your interested?

Well stopped off at a dealer just outside Peterborough and a nice(ish) XF premium 3l V6 diesel will be delivered on Sunday.

Cheap. Brisk (surprisingly so, in fact) starts and stops nicely. Trim in good nick. All the buttons and bells I could find work. And it was comfortable.

Now I'm nervous that I missed something, but it's got a 6 month warranty and the only MOTs it failed were due to tyres (4 new ones, but a bit cheap) so overall I think I'm happy.

Well not really, but I'll live. And hopefully I can walk properly again.
