I shall weigh myself in the morning. I'm guessing I'm somewhere near 19 stone.
I'll target 16 stone by the time Le Mans comes round.

Then after Le Mans when I'm back to 19 stone I can do it all again....

There is definitely something weird going on. Just had a bowl of natural yoghurt with grapes, sprinkled raisins/sunflower seeds and a glass of water rather than tea and a mince pie!

How are we going to post updates, and incentives, just on this thread?

Each to their own I reckon, as we all have separate and personal challenges. Personally I'll be updating the stats I posted on page 1 each month, with a spreadsheet, graph, and an hour long PowerPoint webinar.... Or I'll just copy and paste each month and add updated figures and any wins or struggles.

At some point I'll probably ask for advice or guidance, and may even get to the position that I can dish some out.

Hi all,

I think this is really cathartic for anyone who wants to get fit, get fitter or just healthier.... And that can be different for everyone to be honest.....

Me, I am 6’3” and 11St 12Lb’s. I actually want to put weight on in the form of muscle!!

I was diagnosed as Type1 diabetic 9 years ago and stood at 12St 10Lb’s before I started losing weight.. I lost about 2.5 stone in 8 weeks!!! Was very fit, sometimes this just happens....

All ok now and has been for a long time but have not put the weight back on that I wanted to. Am stuck at this weight....

When you have no fat left to burn, your body consumes muscle and that takes ages to gain back.

So I was always fit doing a lot of running and gym work after giving up football. I am still very fit BUT do a lot of cardio (running - can still do 3 miles in 17m 30s) as this is the best way to keep my blood glucose levels at an excellent level.

However I weigh my carbs and really do not eat that much as it’s “just not worth it” to have high blood glucose as it takes ages to come back down unless you go for a run and you don’t want to do that after every meal.

Soooo, I am going to try and change my diet and regime and reduce my cardio and increase weights and resistance training.

I am 48 soon and want to end 2019 by increasing weight to 12 1/2 stones + solely by muscle gain.

Pretty hard as I need to increase carb intake but I can’t so we’ll see how it goes...

Stats:
Age - 47
Height - 6’3”
Weight - 11St 11Lb
Waist - 32”
BMI - 21

Goal - Weight 12St 6 to 12St 9

Good luck to everyone!

This looks like a great little motivational challenge.....just what I need.

MY problem isn’t training....it’s boredom eating and drinking in the evenings.....a habit that needs to be broken.

I’m 53, around 5”6, and according to the scales today am 69.2kg, 10.4% body fat. Thought it would be a lot worse after the Xmas I’ve had.

Ideally I’d like to be single figure body fat and around 66.5-67kg......shredded and my abs back.

A few years ago when I was 46 I entered a “masters” (old gits) bodybuilding comp on a natural basis.
The results below were after 12 weeks of strict diet/training.....body fat was 6-7% I’m guessing.

Anywhere close to that “shred” would be pleasing.

Good luck everyone, whatever your goal is, it’s worth the effort.

How nice it would be to get the body tone back of when I was 18 which was a long time ago now.
Good Luck all.

Day 1 of dry January successfully negotiated!

Two tips I will share is about alcohol free beer.

Firstly, it has got a thousand times nicer than it used to be. There are several now that if you put them in a glass and drank them without knowing it was alcohol free, you wouldn’t be able to tell. This includes a couple of craft beers (ale/porter).

Secondly, although it’s alcohol free it is not calorie or carb free. I did a dry October, drank alcohol free beer as my substitute (maybe 2 bottles on average per day) and ended up gaining weight over the month rather than losing a few pounds...

Likewise, day 1 of no booze done! The usual problem of my brain having forgotten how to fall asleep without the assistance of alcohol to switch it off was experienced. But after only probably 45 minutes I was out. I've woken up early, feeling well rested. Plan for the morning is to have a 15 min session on the rowing machine followed by walking to the shop, about 3 miles in total, to get some healthy breakfast.

...then spend the day sitting in my home office working.

Day 1 here done also,29 to go. See what you mean Dan, I’d put it down to the excitement/anticipation of waiting for my car but guess it could be alcohol related. A bottle of wine and or 3pints less a night cost savings can now be blown on fuel and I’ll live longer to drive it. Win win:D

Well that's one way to kick start weight loss. Food poisoning.

Still 210 this morning. So that makes exactly 21lbs to lose. Although a lot will be water.

Well yes Dan, its Jan and I am going 'dry' again for alternating months (Jan/Mar/May) and ditching the carbs too...just so I can blow it in Le Mans again.

Still pushing on with 3 boxing classes a week and a 2hr off road cycle on a Sunday morning added to vary it up a bit.

I dont get on the scales, as I go on belly shape and muscle tone over a figure that pigeon holes me...but I will tonight after boxing.

Height: 5'10"
Age: 47
Weight: 92.3kg
Waist: 34"
Neck: 15"
Belly: does not stick out as far as my chest so am all good with that!

I am told Brewdog make a tasty alcohol free beer. Never tried it
When I know I am going to the boozer I adapt my calorie intake accordingly so I don't do this dry January stuff.
Over the last year I averaged about 1200 calories per day net. By that I mean food intake minus calorie burn.
A male needs about 2000 - 2500 calories per day I believe.
people ask me if I have lost weight (and I have) but they are comparing me to the general public which predominantly is overweight. Today's norm is actually overweight.
I am amazed I need to lose another stone to get to the middle of the green healthy band range which tells me we are still massively over eating.
I am old and can remember having nothing at all to eat between meals as a healthy child and then maybe the odd banana. So I am still aiming to lose 1/2 stone
Seems to me to be reduce calories and increase exercise gradually, easy eh?
Good luck everyone
