Nah they deserve every penny of the fine bloody cheats ….. ;-) :)

If the FIA want to stop cheating and rule breaking they should have points docked or loose a championship position, but F1 never does that. Ferrari, Red Bull, McLaren, Renault, Benetton they’ve all escaped with fines that have no real impact. I reckon Ferrari’s engine cheat was on a par with Toyota’s in the 95 WRC and they got banned, what did they do to Ferrari???

McLaren were thrown out of the 2007 championship, losing all points and had to have their 2008 chassis scrutinised for Ferrari IP. Schumacher was thrown out of the 1997 championship so there is enough precedent. They have been very harsh at times, lenient at times and secretive at times. In general drivers have not lost points if the team was guilty of infractions. So the penalties given to Red Bull would never have given Lewis his 8th and anyone suggesting that clearly hasn‘t looked into this. My biggest issue is the rabble rousing by the press and the other team managers over an issue which had no effect on the competitiveness of Red Bull. They got what they wanted though as now Ferrari will get 19% more wind tunnel time and Mercedes 27% more (including the “usual” staged difference for championship position. For a small financial digression that seems harsh. Normally Ferrari would have had 7% more and Mercedes 14% more. That advantage has increased significantly.

I thought McLaren got reinstated in 2007 on appeal with the just the fine being upheld but may well be wrong.

If I am wrong the that means that again Red Bull have had special treatment like they did last year and it’s all a huge conspiracy ;)

PS isn’t Briatore now F1’s commercial director? His lifetime ban didn’t quite last a lifetime!

If I didn’t know you were a Lewis fan I might have even taken that seriously ;)

They are all cheats…Aston this time and Ferrari just as bad with that engine stuff and I am sure they have looked at ways to get around the rules… and cheat. Its the FIA that are the issue as they are a mess still. The teams will continue to stretch the rules and until the FIA get serious about it this will continue. I am more a fan of F1 than an individual team. I have teams and drivers I prefer to others but don’t have one that I could say was the only one I follow.

They are all cheats

Surely it's not cheating if they are all at it?

In seriousness, if feels like too much money (I say feels as I don't even follow F1) but no one wants to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs so instead of rules which are applied uniformly, they are interpreted to the benefit of the sport as a whole. As my example I hold up, once again, Sam Allerdyce. Still operating in top flight football despite being caught red handed taking bribes. Can you imagine a parallel situation in lower league sports? Maybe you can, and it's just me (General 'you' that is, not you specifically @Andyk ) ;)

So Ferrari allegedly had a way of increasing fuel flow. They didn't break any of the rules that were in place.
Mercedes... for many years were burning oil (another way of increasing combustion)
Not sure why people think one is cheating and one isn't

McLaren were disqualified, I don’t think there was even an appeal. The interesting thing was that Alonso alerted the FIA with new evidence that re-started the investigation. He was so ****** off with Ron Dennis and McLaren although he, Lewis and de la Rosa had been interviewed by the FIA and granted immunity if they told the truth (with career ending penalties if it was subsequently found out they lied..). But spying and technical cheating in my opinion is of a different category to an argument over the allocation of $432K in a complicated accounting process. They all try to stretch the envelope as much as possible but there is a difference between intentional fraud or technical infringements like burning oil, the Ferrari engine etc. and interpretation differences. The latter are usually punished much lighter.

If it’s Merc’s one chance of a win this year it’s today. My money is on Lewis. Max’s driving has improved this year but Russell’s is getting worse. I reckon they take each other out and it’s then Checo vs Lewis which will be down to tyres so pretty even stevens.

Nothing much to mention about yesterday except Max’s 14th and Mercedes’ strategic misser. With them - or at least one of them - on the right tyres, it might have been exciting. It looked like everyone was disappointed except Max and good old Ricciardo who finally got some fire in his belly.

Agree, that was a pretty boring race. Mercedes have come on a long way since the start of the season and if Ferrari don’t pick up their skirts for the last few races could have 2nd place taken from them.

Great to see. Don’t think he will stay there but fingers crossed he does and he deserves to do well.

I did some digging on Latifi and his father's company Sofina, one of Canada's largest food producers has extensive ties to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Nicolas Latifi is mixed race with Iranian heritage, his grand father was a colonel in the Shah's army.

In 2018 the regime pumped £200 million into McLaren to try and get Latifi an F1 seat there while he was still in F2.

This traitor and his family have blood on their hands... I'm glad his on track performance is an embarrassment to the murderous rapists that fund him.

F1 is addicted to dirty money whether it is from the Russians, Iranian regime or Saudis... Although we all know that the global elites use motor racing of various forms to clean their dirty money.
