I was suprised Red Bull didn’t let Perez past Max when he asked as he needs points. Seemed the logical thing to do.
It did. The crowd quite liked it when each Merc went past Max. Wonder how they would have reacted if Perez had been let past?

They love Lewis in Brazil. Hasn’t he just been made an citizen or something.

With Leclerc not far behind Perez they must have worried about Max dropping behind him too. Now they have the full second row with both Ferraris behind Which might be worth more than one single point at the end of the day. Time will tell if they are fighting against Ferrari or Merc this evening..it certainly looks like Merc are in the front seat on this one with Lewis potentially keeping his win streak per season in tact (and surpassing Michael). But he’ll have to slug it out with Russell.

Not sure as it looked like max just was in the wrong tyres and maybe if he was on sifts like the others they may not have got past. Either way could be a great race today. Let’s hope so.

The sprint was good to watch for a change however how can it be fair that the guy who got Pole isn't actually on pole for the race that has the most points available and the guy who won his first race, but didn't actually win his first proper race, should be on pole?

Simply, the sprint race should be a spectacle for the fans and a few extra points only but the qualifying order should go into the main race as well as the sprint.

Actually Max dropping behind Leclerc would that have that mattered as Max has won the championship and they have the constructors so surely getting Perez into 2nd is more important ?

You could argue Perez won the championship for Max last year as much as anyone else. Max is a right tosser.
Indeed. They’ve built the car for him for the last few years, at the detriment to his teammates. Asked to do the right thing for the team….

poor.

As predicted a Merc 1-2, they’ve suddenly found a lot of speed. Seems everyone commenting here was so pleased to see Max finish back they forgot to congratulate Russell on his first win. Whatever floats your boat I guess. Max could have given the place to Perez for an extra 2 points but he seemed to have his reasons not to which we are obviously not privy too. I think the penalty he got was not warranted as did Martin Brundle by the way. It wouldn’t have changed the top 3 I think as Red Bull was just not fast on this track. If you criticise Max for not letting Perez through you should also criticise Sainz for not letting Leclerc through for even more points.

And this is why threads like this are so divisive. Max overcooked the corner which is why he got penalized. He would never had made it if he was alone on the track at the speed he was going. He would have run wide anyway. And you have to be a team player. Selfishness is a requirement for this sport, but you have to give when necessary.

Is it divisive to have a different opinion? Just like you point out certain things, so do I. They just happen to be different things seen through different glasses. And that’s a good thing in my books. All having exactly the same opinion would be rather dull and pointless. The divisive part is more about how you handle a different opinion IMO
