Is it divisive to have a different opinion? Just like you point out certain things, so do I. They just happen to be different things seen through different glasses. And that’s a good thing in my books.
Yes, but the stewards didn’t agree with you.

I try to like Max. I really do. Most times he comes across as a nice chap. I don’t think the Red Bull setup is beneficial for him. Apart from the last 2 years of course. It was once again interesting to see Filipe Massa being interviewed and generous and of course unlucky not to win a world championship.

As predicted a Merc 1-2, they’ve suddenly found a lot of speed. Seems everyone commenting here was so pleased to see Max finish back they forgot to congratulate Russell on his first win. Whatever floats your boat I guess. Max could have given the place to Perez for an extra 2 points but he seemed to have his reasons not to which we are obviously not privy too. I think the penalty he got was not warranted as did Martin Brundle by the way. It wouldn’t have changed the top 3 I think as Red Bull was just not fast on this track. If you criticise Max for not letting Perez through you should also criticise Sainz for not letting Leclerc through for even more points.

Really don’t think you can defend Max for not letting Perez through no matter what your thoughts on him is. The team asked him to move over and he didn’t play the team game. Even Perez said after ‘It’s shows who he really is’. Cannot see Perez being as understanding next time he is asked to help so this really was not good for the team. If he had a reason for not doing it he should have just said then everyone would know and understand but this way it will always be a talking point. Anyway, it was a great race at a great track. Love Brazil and long may it stay.

I’m not defending Max for not letting Perez through - I try to be as factual and balanced as I can, knowing what most peoples preferences are on here. I wish people would read a post instead of getting their hair up and making quick judgements. That is where divisiveness comes in don’t you think? I don’t think that was Max’s best moment either by the way.

Yes, but the stewards didn’t agree with you.
No they didn’t - and they also haven’t been a model of consistency over the last couple of years.

I will presume most here watch Sky F1 and let’s agree that they made quite the spectacle over Max, spent less than 30 seconds on Sainz not letting Leclerc through for more points and somehow completely forgot to mention that during the safety car ending Tsunoda was not allowed to unlap himself. The very thing they blew up over last year. I don’t find that ”journalism”. Everyone loves a villain as long as it’s the one they want to be the villain.

Gotta say I agree.
It was a petulant act and given the team clearly want Perez second in the Championship -to deny him the points was a destructive move for Red Bulls aims!

It’s clearly left a bad impression on Perez ( and many within the team) who may not be so helpful in future.

terrific race as was the sprint that I’ve just managed to catch up on!

Nice to see Mercedes back and Russel certainly has the skills to make Hamilton work for a win again!

I’ll just point out. Sainz wasn’t asked to let Leclerc through. Leclerc asked his team who deemed it was too dangerous as Verstappen was closing in. At least I think that’s what I heard. And for balance I don’t particularly favour any of them.
Point taken, I’m not saying Sainz is not a team player though. I’m just saying it should have been more of a talking point. It‘s the principle of team orders and should or shouldn’t they be given in certain situations and if they do what happens and if they don’t why not. Team orders are always difficult for a driver, thats for sure and it provides for a lot of “entertainment”. We all remember “multi 2-1” and the Alonso—Hamilton pit saga. The Ferrari team is an enigma. For them the second place for one of their drivers does not seem to be much of a priority. You do have to feel sorry for Leclerc this year and to some extent for Sainz as well.

I thought the whole thing with Max was quite interesting, it was a very strong message about how he sees things in terms of hierarchy. I didn’t watch all of the coverage, but I didn’t see any presence from Horner or Marko, so it might well be that he felt he could do what he liked. I am sure someone will pull him aside and tell him that if you treat your colleagues like that, you’ll suffer in the end.

Russell did really well, he certainly has the speed and temperament to go far as resisting an attack from Lewis on a track he might as well own was quite impressive.

Max the villain

I guess we know roughly who leaked the photos of Perez getting off with a Red Bull "model" on a yacht in Monaco

Max threw his toys out of the pram as usual.

On Hamilton:
I got the feeling Brundle was doing his utmost to not **** off Red Bull this weekend and playing the Max card. Karun Chandok's post race analysis of Max on Hamilton says it like it really was, no way Max was making the corner which is an instant penalty, he was lucky to get off with only 5s.

And if that's not enough, how about the post race interview, in Max’s own words…
”I went round the outside and I immediately felt he wasn’t going to leave space so I just went for it, he didn’t leave me space so I knew we were going to get together. It cost him the race win, for me it gave me 5 seconds. It wouldn’t have mattered anything for my race.”

On Perez:
All he had to do was say "Checo was too far back, I hadn't realised and felt it was too dangerous to slow that much" or similar, instead of the whole we've spoke about this before, and both he, and the team being all secretive over the reasoning behind it all. It's all just petulant child stuff really. Max already has the championship, so really it made no difference to him, other than negatively as no one will want to be a good number 2 to him and I'm sure other teams will resist signing him in future due to his attitude if he keeps this up.

Watching them pass all the crazy stuff on the straight will be amazing, I expect social media to light up with a million photos of F1 cars passing the fake Eiffel Tower!

There’s not many GPs I’d pay to go to but that’s one. Could watch it on TV of course…
